Mr and Mrs Noah Leisure of Carthage left last week for Florida to spend the winter months. Their address is 222 11th Ave North St. Petersburg. They report most flowers killed by the recent cold spell and leaves falling.

Captain Thurman Porter Jr. suffers heart attack abroad

Relatives report Captain Thurman Porter Jr., son of Thurman Porter of Carthage, had a severe heart attack December 19 in Germany. He is in critical condition at Mackay Air Force Base Hospital Ramstein, with his wife and two children at his side in Germany.

Hospital News: Local Patients Return After Major Surgeries

Jimmy Zimmerman returned to his name Saturday from St. Vinezut's Hospital in Indianapolis after major surgery. Mrs. Fred McManus went home Saturday from Wyvert Lung Hospital. Mrs. John Bieschke remains convalescing at Bush Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Rosalind Stephens of Indianapolis, wife of Nelson Stephens, returned to 832 Mt. Dora Lane Monday after major surgery at Community Hospital.

Post office staff and spouses gathered for a Christmas dinner and social hour Saturday night at the Durbin Hotel in Rushville. New Ripley Trustee and Advisory Board Sworn In

Robert McKain trustee elect and his advisory board Stanford Lynch Worth Pitts and Robert White were sworn in last Saturday at the county clerk's office. They will assume office on January 1, 1963. McKain will have the trustee's office at his rural route home.

OES Holds Christmas Meeting and Gift Exchange

The December 12 OES meeting featured a Christmas party and gift exchange. Goldie Kyser received a 50 year membership pin from Josephine Brown, Past Grand Worthy Matron, and Fred Sandefur was awarded a 25 year pin. Lovely Christmas refreshments were served by the Star Points.

Census to survey home alterations in January report

The Census Bureau will conduct the January Quarterly Household Survey in 333 areas, collecting data on residential alterations, repairs, and related expenditures. The survey also asks about food consumption, including beef, white bread, lettuce, milk, and apples, with local interviews led by Mildred Norvell of Manilla, Indiana.

Nieces in Rose Bowl Parade

Liberty tops Carthage 63 to 56 in Raiders clash

Liberty downed visiting Carthage 63 56 to snap a six game skid. Kit Porter led with 20 points for Liberty while Ron Weidner added 14 for the Raiders. Patterson and Loveall led Carthage with 14 and 4 rebounds respectively. Score by quarters showed Liberty pulled away after intermission and held on for the win.

Mission Work Plans in New Zealand by Little Blue River Church

The Church of Christ at Little Blue River aids a Wellington New Zealand mission. Wayne and 35 others depart December 29 for one month of teaching and outreach. A January 25 meeting in the town hall plans a 1,200 seat event with cottage meetings and Q A sessions. Two workers remain in Valdosta, Georgia, with two more joining next May to total four full time workers.
