Notice states all money owed must be settled by January 1, 1913. Starting Jan 1 town phones will be billed monthly and due by the tenth. country phones semi annually. Delinquent accounts after notice will have service disconnected until paid. Van Hoop is manager.
After learning Supt. Walker must undergo an operation the Carthage School Board met and decided on a two week vacation for students and staff.

Marjorie battles anger after a quarrel with Billy over a Christmas gift. She cancels a book order to avoid a forced apology, then confronts her feelings as Billy arrives with Romeo and Juliet to symbolize forgiveness. Brown & Co. mistakenly kept the order, making Billy’s gift a peace offering.

Merril McDaniel age twenty one died Saturday morning at his parents home in Henderson after months of lung trouble. He leaves his parents wife one sister and four brothers, with many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday at one oclock at the home conducted by Rev. Connor of Arlington church. Pallbearers listed and burial followed at Arlington Cemetery. R C Hill family and Sam Haywood attended the services.
Civil War veteran Henry Phelps, age 74, died Tuesday night at the National Military Home near Marion after long illness. Burial followed at the Home cemetery per his year old request. Surviving relatives Will Phelps and Henry B. Phelps attended, along with Gurney Phelps a nephew of Spicelane.
Leroy Jay advertises No 1 Baldwin apples at 2 75 a barrel or 95c a bushel through agent Art Lineback at his tailor shop near White’s Hardware. Barrels hold three bushels and Baldwin flavors keep well to April.
The Citizen urges subscribers with due renewals to call and renew as over 400 subscriptions have expired and the publication needs cash.

Miss Esther Bishop of Arkto na Ohio visits for Christmas with relatives. Mary Newsom of Jonesboro, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Newsom, remains seriously ill with appendicitis. Mr and Mrs George Headlee of Pendleton visited due to their son in law Supt S B Walker illness, then returned home taking Walker children George and Horace.
Mr J. T. Painter of Emporia Kansas and Mrs Etta K Devinney of Anderson Indiana were married last Sunday at the home of her father J J Anderson and wife. The ceremony was conducted by Rev Ira P Harbaugh pastor of the St Christian Church. Only guests were Mr and Mrs Ed Adkins and Mr and Mrs R C Small. The couple departed Tuesday for Emporia where Painter is engaged in the grocery business.
A. O. Hill, trustee of Ripley township, resigns with the resignation to take effect January 1st. Jesse Heyley is appointed to fill the expired term of Mr Hill for two years. Hill held the office for many years and says one term is long enough. Heyley formerly served as trustee and is well fitted to the post.
Supt S B Walker of Carthage Schools entered Sexton Sanitarium Friday morning with a serious appendicitis. He returned to duties at times as the condition allowed. doctors report his situation as satisfactory and hopeful for recovery. Dr A Sipe assisted with the operation and others named include Headley of Pendleton, A O Hill, and Butler.
