Surprise party greets Fletcher parsonage class meeting
The Men's Class at the Fletcher M. E. church parsonage held a New Year's planning meeting and were surprised by about 60 guests with gifts and filled baskets. Rev. and Mrs. Schoolfield received thanks for the visit and gifts. Officers elected include President Fred Sims Vice-president Russell Parish Secretary O C McCarty and Treasurer Harry Rhodes. The group outlined their year’s program.

Former Carthage Resident Percy Binford Dead
Percy Binford of Indianapolis died Monday at 6 p m after a stroke. He was 54 and survived by a widow and two children, Margaret and Carl Raymond, of Greenfield, plus three brothers Arthur B Picqua Ohio Clarence and Charles Greenfield. Funeral Wednesday at Walnut Ridge with interment there.

The 4 H Club held a Corn Show at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carthage School with ten cars judged. Winners include Jesse Addison first prize, Clarence Heim second, Paul Winslow third, Robert Winslow fourth. Single car contest prizes go to Jesse Addison first and Paul Winslow second. Judges were Howard Leisure and J. R. Behr. A Rushville county contest will occur next week for qualified 4 H members.
