College of Music Butler presents ballet in Mansfield

A College of Music at Butler University spent the weekend in Mansfield Ohio presenting a ballet program at the Civic. The event showcased student performers and featured a series of classical ballet pieces.

Triple Trio Appears on Wish TV Special from Carthage High

The Triple Trio of Carthage High School filmed a program for WISH-TV as a special night at the Anderson Auditorium. The project, originally set for December 2, aired yesterday at 9:30 AM on Channel 8. The trio apologizes for the tape ringing misinformation and hopes locals enjoyed the broadcast.

Indiana towns to receive HHFA loan funding for sewer projects

Approval of loans to Bloomington Laurel and Carthage by the Housing and Home Finance Agency under the accelerated public works program. Bloomington gets 255100 for an interceptor sewer and lift station with total project cost 510000. Laurel receives 22420 for a sewage treatment plant with total cost about 112100. Carthage gains 86000 to aid a 172000 sewage treatment plant.

Youth Fellowship officers plan retreat at Christian Church

State officers of the Christian Youth Fellowship joined Rev. Robert Kendall for a planning retreat at the Christian Church. Attendees included president Miss Judy Huber of Richmond, Miss Judy Burns, Robert Smythe of Indianapolis, and Ron Jones of Jeffersonville. they stayed at the parsonage.

Christian Youth Fellowship entertains Rush County Home

A nine member Christian Youth Fellowship group visited the Rush County Home near Rushville last Sunday evening. They held a devotional period and sang Christmas carols for the residents. Rev and Mrs Robert Kendall and Mr Robert Smythe of Indianapolis accompanied the group and participated.

Deboard Ward Attend Kentucky Funeral of Hilger Davis

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Deboard and daughter Teresa and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward visited Olive Hill Kentucky for the weekend and attended the funeral of Hilger Davis on Sunday. Davis was a brother in law to Deboard and Ward and relatives gathered at his home.

Winters Accounting closes Connersville office

December PTO Meeting Features Christmas Program at Carthage School

The Carthage School gym hosted the December PTO meeting on Tuesday December 10. President Thomas Shields opened with devotions by Rev Bray. Mrs Sue Land and Mr Bob Edwards led the program as grades performed songs the Story of Christmas and the high school chorus and junior senior bands offered Christmas selections.

Nine high schools ordered closed by state panel

Nine high schools with under 50 pupils each will close after this year for failing to meet state standards. Carthage defeated Morton 83 to 52 in a listless game last Friday night. The Raiders led by wide margins each quarter after a 12 all first quarter stalemate. Carthage coach Jordan used reserves and Mike Lafuse was out sick. Carthage shot 39 of 80 from the field while Morton made 23 of 60.

County Tournament Plans Made for Rush County

Rush County Coaches and Principals Association outlined drawings for three basketball tournaments and plans for the county's first junior high track meet next spring. The junior highs will hold two tours on Feb 6 and 8 with winners decided later, while the varsity county tourney is set for Jan 16 and 18 at Memorial Gym.

Two men posing as electrical inspectors entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lesley and demanded $31.00. Neighbors saw a Studebaker Lark with a side emblem parked nearby as Town Marshal Trowbridge and state police investigated. Town residents contributed money to aid the couple.
