Local residents discuss the Big All Night Sale planned for Friday night December 16 at Carthage Radio and Appliance Shop. The store advertises bargains and specials all specially priced for the event with details on page 3.
Inclement weather postponed the Ham and Turkey Shoot sponsored by the Ripley Township Conservation Club last Sunday. A new date is set for Sunday December 18 at Windsor's Field just north of Carthage.
Larry Little of R. R. 1 has returned to Purdue University after six weeks of student teaching and training at Manual High School in Indianapolis. He is in his senior year at Purdue.
Lafayette Indiana resident Phillip A. Dyer of Carthage R 2 joins the 15 student pledge class recently initiated by the Alpha Zeta fraternity at Purdue University. Dyer is a Veterinary Science and Medicine student. Eligibility requires juniors and seniors in the School of Agriculture ranking in the upper two fifths of their class.
Real estate activity in Rush County declined for the second straight month in November yet surpassed the same month a year earlier with estimated sales near 167 000 dollars. October and September had higher totals at about 213 800 and 286 000 respectively, while division breakdown shows 64 000 dollars in Rushville City property 50 000 in small town and subdivision property and 52 000 in farmland.
Jackson Township volunteers respond Sunday to an ice laden tree that fell on high tension lines of Rush County R E M C at Ray Leisure's farm home R R 1 Carthage. Sparks threatened a fire but workmen arrived to repair lines and remove danger with no damage to the house. The Leisure farm lies west of Occident.
Dr Homer Hensler of Carthage begins the re test of eligible cattle for tuberculosis and brucellosis in Ripley Township per area veterinarian Dr B L LaSalle. The effort supports the re certification of Rush County for disease control and asks farmers to cooperate by presenting and restraining cattle for testing.
A complaint for divorce was filed by Mrs Wilna M Moore against Willdean Moore citing cruel treatment and requesting custody of four minor children. The couple married May 3 1931 and separated last Sunday. Also noted is a separate case Donald Stoten Jr vs Mary Ruth Stoten sent to Shelby County on a change of venue.
Seventy members and guests attended the Lions Club Christmas party at the Community Center. Hubert Hunt led the meeting as president. A high school quartet and other performers entertained after the gift exchange, and a business session set the Lions Christmas project for Thursday night December 22.

Liberty Indiana hosts Carthage in an Eastern Central Conference showdown. The Warriors trailed 22-17 at halftime but surged in the third quarter to take a 35-32 lead and finish 52-40. This was Liberty’s first league game of the season.
Milroy led 25-18 after one, Carthage pulled ahead to 40-31 at halftime, Milroy surged to 54-51 mid third, then Carthage finished strong to win 70-62. Jordan (19) and Muir (16) led scorers for Carthage. Gatewood and Jon Smith added 11 each. Carthage Seconds won 36-33 as Jack Howard and Ronnie Weidner stood out.

Jess Mourey sustained a broken right leg and considerable shock after a collision at Cross Street and State Road 109 in Anderson. His car, nearly destroyed, struck a utility pole while avoiding a woman driven vehicle. he is hospitalized at St. John's-Hickey Memorial Hospital in Anderson, room 317.
Carthage post office will remain open all day Saturday December 17 and December 24 according to post master Junior Bever. Labels may be received free at the post office for all out of town mail and local cards.
Boy Scouts of Troop 129 met Saturday December 10 in the library basement. They opened with two games, conducted a business meeting by the Flying Eagle Patrol, and then assisted with a cookie and candy drive run by Scout Mothers.
