Mr. and Mrs. Michael C. Ruby of Fayetteville North Carolina welcome a 7 lb girl born December 2 named Denese Lorane. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCorkle and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Ruby of Carthage.
Mr and Mrs Pete Ewing and Mr and Mrs Guy Ewing spent from Friday to Sunday with Mr and Mrs A B Brookhart at Ft Madison Missouri and attended the funeral of a relative Irvin Jones in Memphis Missouri on Saturday
Carthage Home Garden Club displayed forty five Christmas arrangements at a workshop meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Community Center. Members contributed three plus items and explained their making. President Mrs Forrest Moore presided with guests from Rushville Raleigh and Carthage. Refreshments were served by Mrs Loyal Hunt and Mrs Fred.
The Grand Council installs Alpha Delta at Marion on Sunday December 3 with luncheon at Spencer Hotel. Sigma Chapter Carthage is represented by Mrs Edna Windsor and Grand Council officers Mrs Ann Stager and Mrs Barbara White. East St Christian Church groups meet December 4 with atten dances and small offerings.
Mr and Mrs Allan Proctor of Carthage R R announce the birth of a son weighing 9 pounds 6 ounces born Monday at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Charles Fairchild of Knightstown and Lucille Fairchild of Carthage sue for divorce on cruelty and inhuman treatment. They wed January 19 1942 and separated November 18 1961.
Dr and Mrs Richard McNabb of Carthage announce the birth of a daughter weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces on December 2 at Rush Memorial Hospital. Grandparents are Dr and Mrs George B McNabb, also of Carthage.
The Better Business Association of Carthage will hold its Christmas dinner meeting next Wednesday at 7 30 p m in the Blue Bird Restaurant Dining Room Morristown. Members husbands wives and guests are welcome.
The regular American Legion meeting is scheduled for Wednesday December 13 1961 at 8 p.m. with euchre and refreshments after the business session.

James Whitfield and his sons Mike and David attended an Eagle Scout Recognition program at McGuire Hall in Richmond Indiana on Sunday afternoon. Twenty seven boys from the Whitewater Valley Council were recognized as Eagle Scouts at the program.
Max Allen McMichael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McMichael Jr., entered Rush Memorial Hospital Sunday and underwent surgery on Monday.
Arlington built momentum after halftime to pull away from Carthage in a 62 45 victory as the Raiders led early, then trailed by 19 in the second half. Carthage’s B team was edged 36 35 in a late thriller.
Initial planning for the fourth annual county spelling bee began yesterday at a meeting of county and city school officials in the office of Gerald Carmony, county school superintendent.
Two people were injured in a two car collision on U.S. 40 near Philadelphia, with William W. Spratt of Fortville and Larry Bramel of Carthage involved. Bramel sustained possible back and internal injuries, memory loss, and abrasions after being ejected. Spratt escaped serious harm, while Betty Fuller of Indianapolis suffered bruises. Damages were listed as $1000 for Spratt’s 1962 Cadillac and Bramel’s 1955 Ford was a total loss.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mosier visited Mr. and Mrs. E W Schowe and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Kellar in Anderson Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Gouldie Kyser visited Mrs. Ethel Renegar in Knightstown Friday. Mr. and Mrs. H E Poston of New Castle were Sunday guests of Mrs. Kyser. Merle Grocox and Julia McMichael were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gahimer last Wednesday evening. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Marion Lawson of Pendleton. Mrs. Maxine Riggs attended a baby shower Friday night at Knightstown at the home of Mrs. Chalmer Wilkerson for Mrs. Wilkerson.
Carthage High School announces its No 12 Christmas program to be held December 19 in the CHS gym with bands and choirs from grades 1 through 12. The article also notes a Home Economics school visit to Morton Memorial Children’s Home and various classroom activities and upcoming events at CHS.
The Carthage and Arlington bands paired for a joint show at the Carthage Arlington ball game. Both bands cooperated well and displayed sportsmanship. Arlington hosted with free cokes and pregame entertainment for Carthage students. Arlington will join Carthage again at the next Arlington Carthage game.

Elmer Mack Addison died Monday evening at Hancock County Memorial Hospital Greenfield. He lived in Arlington 18 years before moving to Greenfield in 1936 and ran restaurants in both communities. Survived by wife Helen son William G Addison of Greenfield and granddaughter Barbara Louise Addison. Grace Gardner 73 a Rush County resident died at home in Knightstown after a year of ill health and six weeks of serious illness Born January 3 1888 she lived in Posey and Ripley Townships She was active in Hannegan Church and Eastern Star Survived by husband Milton Gardner four daughters Laurel Bradburn Violet Henley Alma Carpenter Miriam Young two sons Marshall and Eugene Gardner sixteen grandchildren five great grandchildren two sisters and two brothers Funeral services were conducted by Buck with interment at Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Scott G. Taylor 84, a retired Shel by County farmer, died Tuesday at his daughter Corine Owens home in McCordsville. He leaves six stepchildren and several relatives in the Carthage area and Rushville. Service held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ewing Mortuary Shelbyville with burial in Blue River Chapel Cemetery.
Town Marshal reports thieves caught at 5 o clock Thursday in Knightstown. Investigating a Wednesday night break in at the Carth-Knight Bowl where $30 in cash and about $45 in merchandise were stolen. Charlies Elmore notified Town Marshal Hugh Trowbridge. county sheriff and state police joined the case. Assisting were Mel McDaniel, Larry Pritchard, Eugene Short, and James Kleiman.
Miss Cathy Ruby a student nurse at Methodist Hospital will appear with the hospital’s Student Nurse Chair on the Chapel Door program airing next week from Monday December 11 through Friday December 15 at 7:00 am on Channel 5.
About thirty five members and juniors attended the Carthage American Legion Auxiliary Christmas meeting at the Community Center. Mrs. Frank Hampton welcomed guests, prayers and pledges were offered, reports given, and plans discussed for the Girls School sponsorship, January meeting date change, and a charity basket drive. A social followed with a $1 gift exchange and gifts to Miss Carol Webb and Mrs. Hampton.
