Indiana Extends 1940 License Sales Deadline
Governor Townsend extended the deadline for purchasing new auto plates to March 1, 1940, giving Indiana motorists two more months. Driver licenses, chauffeur permits, and truck weight tags must still be bought by January 1. New 1940 licenses and plates go on sale December 11 with local branches ready to issue them after managers received instructions in Indianapolis.

Mrs Florence Retherford Dies After Long Illness
Mrs Florence Ann Retherford age 80 wife of Edward Retherford died at her home east of Carthage after a stroke in 1937 and pneumonia illness. Born February 2 1859 she spent most of life in Rush county. Survived by husband three daughters Hallie Hopper Marian Colvin Marjorie Coffin two sons Byron Lee and one brother Oscar Morris with another son Carl deceased in 1929. Funeral arrangements not yet made.
