Colorado potato growers could boost income by as much as 100000 dollars yearly within three to four years due to the discovery of a near extinct potato strain called dark Red McClure. The line originated from the Peachblow and was located on the McClure farm at Carbondale and later traced to El Paso and Teller counties. The find emerged in a college potato improvement program after tracing 250 varieties for tests. The dark red Peachblow commands a premium price of 10 to 10 cents per hundred pounds.
