Binford Family Reunion Marks 91st Birthday of Hostess
The Joseph Binford family reunion gathered Sunday at Mrs. Anna J. Pritchard’s home east of Knightstown. It also celebrated her 91st birthday as the oldest living member. REMC to Build Lines in Rush and Franklin Counties
Oscar Newhouse, chairman of Rush County REMC, reports approval of a new contract with the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors' Children's Home. Four miles of lines will be revamped and extended to the state institution from existing primary lines. Cater Construction Company, Inc. of Kansas City, Mo. awarded 47 miles of lines into Franklin County serving Buena Vista, Hamburg, and Peppertown. The Rush County unit has about 421 miles of primary lines serving over 1,000 customers.

County Council Cracks Down On Appropriations
Rush County Council denied requests for new appropriations for 1939. A $900 demand for the county highway superintendent’s office was rejected, while some items were funded, including tools storage lots and various county expenses. Defaulted school properties in Rushville Milroy Arlington and other locales will be sold November 1 to satisfy school fund loans.

The 1939 Rush County Fair sponsored by the Rush County Agricultural association concludes with 4 H Club Girls Dress Revues the Pet Parade and Health Award announcements. Officials call it a grand success noting large entries in 4 H and open livestock and predict a traditional county fair in four years. A pet parade at Memorial park drew over 150 pets with children showcasing decorated pets and riding contrivances.

Almon Murfin Dies at 68 in Carthage Area Barn
Almon D Murfin 68 retired farmer found dead in his barn northwest of Carthage on Tuesday after months of poor health. Born June 15 1871 in Green township Hancock county he married Ida Beeler in 1881. Survivors include daughter Cora Fedder son Elmer Murfin Albert Murfin nine grandchildren and five sisters. Funeral Thursday at 1 30 pm at Albert Murfin’s home with Rev C L Shaw officiating. Burial at McCray Cemetery Wilkinson with A B Thompson in charge.
