Mrs Guy Ewing of Memphis Missouri reports the death of her aunt Mrs Ethel Brookhart. Ewing and her son Bill attended the funeral services on Wednesday.
Miss Jackie Parish daughter of Mr and Mrs Russell Parish began work Monday at Container Corporation of America in general office duties.
Mr and Mrs Robert McKain Mr and Mrs Wayne Draper and Mr and Mrs Ralph Henderson spent from Friday until Sunday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs Charles Colwell at Angola.

Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Scharbrough announce the birth of their son Jon Eric on Wednesday August 1 at Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour. Mrs. Scharbrough is the former Wilma Spray and previously taught commercial subjects in local schools.
Mr and Mrs Lewis Henderson received word that their son Raymond and his family departed Germany on August 2 and expect to reach the United States around August 10 to 12.
Mr and Mrs Ralph McClarnon purchase the Phelps property on Main Street Carthage from Mrs Walter Phelps. They then sell their property to Mr and Mrs Ed Carroll and family of Carthage.
The Thomas and Tamar Hi Reunion was held Sunday at Sun set Park Knightstown with about fifty attendees. Carthage delegates included Mr and Mrs Ralph McClaron Mr and Mrs Eugene Gardner and son Dean Mrs Ann Phelps and Mr Charles Mosier and daughter Sue.
The Wesleyan Methodist Church holds its annual conference in Fairmount Indiana from August 6 to 11 with Paul Turner serving as the church and Youth Society delegate. Rev Krieg will present the annual report on Friday and remain for the weekend. Camp meeting runs August 11 to 19 and some members will stay through both events.

One hundred three 4-H club boys and girls from Rush County travel Thursday to Hassmer Hill in Versailles for the annual 4-H Club Camp. Attendees must have completed a 4-H project and will enjoy vesper services swimming campfire hikes crafts health program and recreation. Fort Carson Army private Lowell D. Everhart son of Floyd F. and Mrs. Everhart Morristown Indiana will leave the United States August 20 for Europe as part of Operation Gyroscope. He serves in the 8th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Carson replacing the 9th Infantry Division in Germany. He is a Heavy Mortar Company truck driver in the 13th Regiment and enlisted in February 1956 after graduating from Morristown High School in 1954.
Thirteen year old Marla Kay Brizendine of Greenfield underwent surgery to remove her left eye after an accident at Riley Park Swimming Pool. A rubber nose plug tied to a neck cord was pulled by another swimmer, causing the nose piece to strike her eye and injure it. Complications led to the operation.
Deputy Bert George investigates shooting reports along Blue Silver with a stray bullet blamed for damage at Fred Parish home on North Main Street. Town Marshal Hugh Trowbridge warns arrests for public highway shooting and speeders using noisy exhaust with state police to inspect mufflers.
Sandra Sohn 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvan Sohn of Elsinore California, died from injuries in an automobile accident near Elsinore. Survivors include brother Steven paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Fred Sohn and maternal grandparents Mrs Lowden of California and Mr Applegate of Muncie. Funeral services held Tuesday at Elsinore.
Shirley Smith from Carthage has earned one of 14 First Class Drum Major awards after completing a week at Smith-Walbridge Drum Major Camp in Syracuse Indiana. Over 100 campers studied marching maneuvers band pageantry and directing under instructors from Ohio State University and Butler University.
Wildlife specialists expect a strong squirrel year as Indiana’s hunting season runs from August 15 to October 13 with a daily bag limit of five. Hunting is forbidden in state parks but 110000 acres of state forests and 115000 acres of national forests remain open with restricted areas clearly marked by superintendents.

The 5th and 6th graders lost to Charlottesville 8 to 4 with Nelson homering for Charlottesville and Marvin Heim belting a homer triple and single for Carthage. Edwina Y. Jones of Rushville Indiana has arrived in Nancy France and been assigned to the American Red Cross Center as a recreation worker. Director Robert S. Wilson announced the posting. Jones a Kansas University graduate taught in Columbus Kansas before joining the ARC in June 1956.

A Madison State Hospital patient Delores McDaniel escaped from her Charlottesville weekend leave and hid in Greenfield. Police, aided by a Christian Chevrolet salesman and bystanders, forced her into a patrol car and she was taken to the county jail until relatives retrieved her for return to the Madison Hospital.

Rev Thurman Addison 68 of Lapel died suddenly during prayer at the Lapel Methodist church where he was substituting for a vacationing minister. He was a son of Frank and the late Mrs Addison and formerly lived in Carthage. Burial is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Asbury cemetery Morristown with local attendees listed.
Mr and Mrs Noah Brooks and daughter Cindy hosted dinner with Mrs Dalrymple and Mr Dalrymple of Knightstown R R. Worth Pitts and Son Tommy along with Mr and Mrs Ralph Pearson attended a Coon Dog Field Trial at Belleville Indiana. J Spencer Lloyd of Houston Texas visits his family with A W Winfield. Roy Miller and daughter of Clermont visit the Shutt home. Thursday guests were Myrtle Miner and Joyce McKinney of Cincinnati. About 35 young Democrats gathered at the Milroy Restaurant Milroy Friday August 3 to form a Rush County Young Democratic Club. Gerald Carmony spoke on youth political involvement. James White of New Castle led meetings until officers were elected with James Webb named president and Mrs. Thomas Alexander, Mrs. Eugene R. Gardner, and Ray Steffy chosen as vice president, secretary, and treasurer respectively.
