Convention Of Federated Clubs Elects New Officers
The twenty second convention of Federated Clubs met at Mays school building with 60 members. Officers elected include Gladys Elwell president Leslie Hinchman vice president Mary Hodge secretary and Howard E Henley treasurer. A tulip tree was planted and a living service star honored relatives of clubwomen. Next year’s meeting will be in Rushville with the state convention May 10 to 12 in Indianapolis.

Missing War Hero Joseph Porter Sought by Family
The War Department notified Mr and Mrs John Porter that their son Staff Sergeant Joseph Elmer Porter 28 is missing in action since April 5 after an air raid over France. He served as a gunner on a B24 Liberator with the U S Army Air Corps and has been overseas since last December. He graduated from local high school in 1933 and worked at the Charlestown powder plant before enlistment in November 1942. His brother Corporal Herman Porter is stationed at Fort Myers Florida and is currently on furlough here.
