The Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority hosted a Rush Party Thursday night April 16 at the Community Center for Carthage School senior girls. Mrs. Hugh Weber welcomed guests and introductions were made. Gifts of necklaces were presented to each guest. Mrs. Robert Jones of Morristown spoke on the history of fashion with dressed doll models illustrating eras. Refreshments in the sorority colors pink and gray were served during the social hour, with floral centerpieces and candles. Former Resident Lydia Moore Dies Near Chicago
Lydia May Moore 75 of Springersville Indiana died suddenly at 3 30 am Thursday at Cedar Lake Indiana while visiting her daughter Esther Carnahan. She was born August 28 1888 in Franklin County daughter of Minnie Robeson and William Robeson. Survivors include three daughters Faye Whitfield Bernice Rector Esther Carnahan a stepson Mike Ellis and a stepdaughter Marie Carlisle plus nine grandchildren two step grandchildren and sister Stella Smalley. Funeral at Hampton Mortuary Carthage 2 0 pm Sunday with Rev Jack Wallace officiating burial Glen Cove Cemetery Knightstown. She had lived in Springersville seventeen years and Knightstown eleven years. She was a Knightstown Christian Church member. Her husband John Moore died in 1947.

Rush County residents contributed 722.74 to the 1964 Easter Seal Appeal, up from 690.00 in 1963. Treasurer Loren B. Wilk thanked donors on behalf of crippled children and adults and urged public-spirited support for expanded services. Information on services is available through the Indiana Society for Crippled Children and Adults in Indianapolis. Funds will fund rehab centers, clinics, education, medical care, equipment loans, camping, and research.
