Mrs. Howard Harris of Carthage entered Heary County Hospital for surgery. Stuart McKnight, Frank Overman’s son-in-law, had a second eye surgery in a Boston hospital. Noah Leisure remains about the same at his Carthage home. Raymond Kennedy has returned home from Rush Memorial.

Scout Group Outing Near Carthage
The Junior Girl Scout group from Eagledale Indianapolis with thirty four girls and four adults spent an all day outing Saturday at the Shutt farm home premises. They hiked and enjoyed a noon sack lunch and a camp fire supper prepared by the leaders. Mrs Roy Miller daughter of the Shutts joined as a leader.

John A. Ruby, 31, appointed executive secretary of the Public Employees Retirement Fund by Gov. Branigin. He replaces Eugene Garrison, 67, who earned $13,700 annually, and served 36 years in state government. Ruby, president of Indiana Young Democrats, was a 1965 state representative for Bush and Shelby counties. The fund, about 21 years old, totals around $125 million with 47,000 active members and 3,000 retirees.

Local 14 Year Old Pleads Guilty to Home Ransack
Night Marshal Lowell Brooks arrested a fourteen year old after the Brooks home was ransacked. The youth admitted breaking in and stealing two half dollars, later leading officers to where he hid some of the money. The boy was released to his parents after returning the recovered funds.
