Town Marshal Hugh Trowbridge reports vandalism at Carthage Cemetery on Knightstown Road with three tombstones overturned and broken and many bottles found. culprits will be prosecuted if located.

Easter Sunrise Service at Methodist Church

Farm Station Demonstration Plots Promote Wheat and Oat Varieties
Rush County hosts two small grain variety plots on John Mills farm in Jackson Township. A wheat plot with about ten common varieties and many experimental lines was seeded last fall, while an oat plot seeded recently by Purdue agronomists features common oat varieties and numerous experimentals. Purdue operates ten such plots statewide. Rush County’s is the only one in this area. An Indiana Cattle Feeders Day is set for Friday April 27 with morning tours at the Beef Cattle Farm and afternoon sessions at Purdue Union Hall. Talks include Meat Animal Research, Beef cattle production, and feedlot and beef demand discussions. Transportation sharing encouraged through the Rush County Extension Office. The Rush County Better Crops Association also runs a rainfall study across all townships, with weekly readings from a network of rain gauges started April 1.

Rites Held for Mrs Myrl Mann in Carthage
Funeral services for 70 year old Mrs Myrl Mann were held at the Hampton Mortuary in Carthage with Rev Basil Stultz officiating. Burial followed at Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter in Mississippi a son in Richmond three brothers three sisters four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One son Donald died in 1957.
