Ten Rush county residents enrolled at Purdue University this academic year. Overall Purdue enrollment is expected to exceed 5000, setting a new high. Last fall 4544 enrolled on October 1, with summer and current semester totals above 4300, despite typical midyear declines. The Marion College Glee Club plans two performances next Sunday at Fletcher Memorial Church and Blue River Church four miles southwest of Arlington. The group, recruiting applicants 19 years or older and 64 inches or taller, will be directed by Prof. Herman Baker, former director at Houghton College, with proceeds supporting defense expenses.

Lizzie Sandefur, ill at her sister Mrs Jasper Nigh’s home, bought two properties of Bert Sitter on East Fifth Street near the canning factory. Several other real estate deals and residence changes are noted to be made soon.

A district attorney said a decision on the abandonment of the interurban line through the area will be announced by the Public Service Commission within two weeks. Mr Reeves, son of Mr and Mrs J Butler Hill of this place, filed a brief with the commission opposing the abandonment.

Horace Stewart who had been quite ill was taken to Indianapolis on Wednesday for medical treatment.
Nathan Pickett Paston and Mrs. Pickett along with Mrs. Charles Winslow hosted the Junior C Society meeting at the Winslow home Monday afternoon. They held the regular monthly business meeting and enjoyed a Rabbit Egg Hunt. Mrs. Newsom entertained the Women’s Missionary Society on Wednesday afternoon with an interesting program. The Young Spedples Distus Group will meet Friday. Combined Religious Education and worship Sunday at 9:30 with service at 10:30. Christian Endeavor at 6:30 and evening worship at 7:30.

Edward M. Leibhardt born September 28 1848 in Carthage died recently at the Richmond home of his granddaughter Mrs Ellis Knight 400 Kinsey Street Richmond Survived by sister Mrs Maggie Morris Indianapolis and brother Bass Leibhardt Dublin He resided with his parents in Knightstown in the early 1870s

Yeggmen on Tuesday night succeeded in opening the safe of the Graffelli Chemical Co at Fortville with a sledge hammer. They escaped with about fifteen dollars in cash. A .32 caliber revolver was stolen from the safe.
Family members were summoned to Indianapolis Wednesday by the death of Mrs Runion's stepfather J A Breedlove who died at 8 30 p m after a stroke of paralysis. Breedlove had been ailing for several weeks and was expected to be buried at New Cemetery following the funeral.
The May 1 date for the Butler University Junior Prom was announced. The Indiana ballroom will host the social highlight with a nationally known orchestra providing music. Ten candidates compete for prom queen as officials plan for about 1,000 attendees.
The 24th annual Sixth District Convention at Brookville Methodist church drew about two hundred federated club women. Officers elected for next year include Mrs. Fred Bell of Rushville as president, Mrs. Frank Greenstreet of Richmond as vice president, and Mrs. John Mitchell Jr. of Greenfield as secretary-treasurer. State and local officers attended, with Mrs. Edwin F. Miller of Peru as state president and others from Cambridge City Martinsville Indianapolis and Richmond.
Relatives and friends gathered Sunday at the Perkins and Seventh streets home of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Norris in Rushville for a birthday anniversary surprise. A buffet luncheon followed. guests included Paul Norris and family, A. W.
