A Tuesday blaze destroyed the 39 year old central section of Maxwell grade and high school with losses estimated between 250000 and 300000 dollars. Firemen from six towns saved a four room school and gymnasium despite a water shortage. The school north of Greenfield housed 325 pupils and featured renovated lighting and cafeteria equipment.
