Highlights of Cities Day at State Fair in Dallas
The Turner High School band led the Torch Light Parade with the Vivian Field drill team and Bomberettes. Miss Rusty Wire was crowned Miss Greater Carrollton-Farmers Branch as Patricia Thurmond, Dian Blalack, Mike Berry, and Paula Gibson served as princesses. City chamber leaders attended the booth exhibits, which showcased neighborhoods, homes, business districts, and community assets through slides and literature.

Fall Planting Focus at Carrollton Garden Club Meeting
Carrollton Garden Club met at the new Civic Center on Tuesday October 8 with a program on fall planting. Jewel McCormick urged color and shape in bulb selection while Mrs. M C Kirkham offered tips on shrubs annuals and soil prep. She noted pruning during transplant and shared indoor plant soil proportions. A plant exchange featured ivy and aspen trees as Annie Perry provided fall arrangements. Refreshments for 15 members included pumpkin flavored treats and Halloween decor.

The stamp measures 0.84 by 1.44 inch and may be purchased at the Carrollton post office on October 27, during the National Academy of Science 100th anniversary ceremonies. The stamp was previously available October 16 at Carrollton.
