Texas Power and Light president discusses ongoing generator issues affecting the service area. The report notes several outages and the company's efforts to restore reliability while outlining steps for customers to report problems.
Texas Power and Light President John W. Carpenter said wartime shortages delayed large turbo generators and other equipment. He noted a 108000 horsepower new capacity planned with four smaller units to be delivered by 1949 1950 and 24 000 horsepower unit already arriving to boost reserves. He urged user cooperation during peak transitions and described ongoing transmission and substation expansion to support future growth.
The Carrollton Garden Club will sponsor a game P tournament Friday at 7:30 pm in the High Sense Gym. Bridge and Forty-two will be played with prizes for winners. A small admission and ticket sales by members will fund the event.
In Denton Texas Maurine Cashion of Carrollton a junior at North Texas State College has been elected secretary treasurer of the NTSC Press Club. A four H major she is daughter of C Cashion and serves as society editor of Campus Chat.
The WMS of College Ave Missionary Baptist Church met Monday at Mrs Rolland Ross home for an all day social and corn dish dinner. The morning included business matters and a Christian Grace service. twenty one ladies and the pastor attended. An afternoon study of the first chapter of Matthew preceded a special program by the ladies themed Walking With God.
A ten day revival begins Friday night February 20 at College Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be the Rev Luke Wadley pastor of Jermen Ave Tiaptist Church. Brother Wadley is a mighty speaker with a strong witness.
Pastor Rev J McClung announces a "man of God" gathering with Brother W Boles from Dallas to direct the choir and Margaret Ann Tinney for a church planting program. Service starts at 7:30 p.m. with the theme “Done Thou With Us.”
The Carrollton Garden Club was entertained by Mrs. Chester Goo on February 10. Mrs. Daley Steineger, an accredited judge, presented an illustrated lecture on color. Miss Margaret Johnston hosted the executive board meeting at her home on February 17.
Circle No. 1 of the Methodist WSCS met at Mrs. Gavin Beal’s home on Monday February 46 for the second lesson of Great Prayers of the Bible taught by Pastor Robert H Ildrey. Mrs. Dell Smith presided during the business session with eleven members listed. Refreshments were served by the hostess.
District 5 of the Texas State Teachers Association will hold its annual meeting in Dallas March 12 and 13 with main events at First Baptist Church. Dr. Pearl Wank r, Dr. Henry Mi, and Dr. Mayele Southall headline sessions. North Texas State College A Cappella Choir and Aces of Collegeland provide entertainment at Baker and Adolphus hotels.
Carrollton High School releases the first semester 1047 46 honor rolls. A Honor Roll includes top students led by ninth graders Glenda Ann Bishop Patay Crenshaw Joyce Nix Cleo Turner Katie Vinson and others with several tenth through twelfth graders named. B Honor Roll lists additional high achievers across grades including ninth to twelfth with names such as Carl Joplin Joyc etc.
L Grimes of Carrollton was badly hurt Monday when his car collided with a gravel truck driven by J Rich of Garland at the old Denton Road and Highway T intersection. His son James was uninjured. both he and the driver were taken to Parkland hospital.
The Brotherhood of College Ave Missionary Baptist Church held a regular meeting Monday night at the church. Ramsey gave the devotional, Jim Bridges serves as president, and members delivered inspiring talks. The group meets twice a month and refreshments were served.
