Local pumpkin carvers are invited to Swan Lake Friday Oct 12 from 5 30 to 7 30 p m for a carving party with prize categories. Carvings become decorations for the Swan Lake Halloween Hike on Saturday. Coupons at the Swan Lake office offer pumpkin discounts at Carroll Hy Vee. Participants must carve pumpkins at the party to be eligible for prizes.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile held September 19 and 20 in Carroll reported success with milestones. Donors Rudy Johnson 15 gallons Don Schechinger 11 Tom Gronstal 7 and Gary Schafer 6 led totals while 25 first time donors participated and many local organizations and businesses offered support. The drive thanked Bishop Greteman Center Carrollton Inn Pepsi Subway Hy-Vee Pizza Hut Little Caesar’s Eco Water Party Time Fundraising The Office Stop Community Opportunities Carroll Coolers Delavan and several individuals.
St Anthony Regional Hospital and Nursing Home announces a series of upcoming community health events. Programs include wellness screenings, age-friendly care seminars, and a caregiver support group hosted on site and online. Details and registration available at the hospital's events calendar.
A community education program on end of life care will be held Tuesday Oct 16 in the education room. Repeated sessions from 1 to 4 p m and 6 to 9 p m cover facilitating family conversations, values based planning, and key issues in final hours. Sponsored by St Anthony Ethics Committee with no participation fee.
A Blood Pressure Screening and Information Clinic will be held Thursday October 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the north entrance area of the hospital. It is co sponsored by St Anthony Public Health and the Carroll County Unit of the American Heart Association. Information on high blood pressure control and heart disease will be available.
The Our New Baby program helps children ages 3 to 12 adjust to a new infant. It features a siblings film, a tour of the newborn nursery, a hands on diapering activity, and child photos for a crib display. Pre register by calling 792 8243.
