Letter to the Editor Opposes Local Option Sales Tax in Carroll

Local option tax urged to support Carroll County growth
Maddie Brown of the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance frames a local option sales tax as a growth aid for Carroll and Carroll County. Estimates show urban areas would share about 2 million annually if adopted only there, while full adoption could allocate 670 thousand to unincorporated areas and 30 thousand otherwise, with 25 percent for property tax relief and 75 percent at supervisors discretion.
