Carroll County completes its 235 man quota for the national army with selections listing numerous draftees from Bowdon Whitesburg Carrollton Temple Villa Rica and nearby towns bound for Camp Gordon for training in the near future.
Long list of names tied to Carrollton and surrounding towns appears to fill a contingent quota. Individuals from Bowdon Villa Rica Whitesburg Bremen Waco and Rodoville are named along with Carrollton residents. Page note indicates continuation on page 4.
The Atlanta Journal photographer captured a crowd scene with Captain Barker and local exemption board members among the participants. The caption lists individuals including Robert N. Zachery J Hall Carmical E C Mose New J W Rowe and other ten quota members seated or standing in a group representing Carroll County in a patriotic welcome for WWI service.

An elderly Carroll County resident, Kerh r Pan h and Kenlth Richards, passed away after a long life spent in Georgia and Mississippi. Born in Henry County, he lived most of his years near Hulett, joined the Primitive Baptist church in 1894, and was buried at Powell's Chapel after funeral services by Rev. Thomas Connell and Rev. J. CO. Payne. He leaves two wives, four children from the first marriage and two from the second, plus brothers Thompson and George.
Miss Margaret M. Cook and Mrs Nui Shiomi from Japan visited the Turner brothers families in the late Rev Will P Turner’s boyhood home. Cook had long served in Japan as a missionary and Shiomi, a native, knew Turner since childhood and wept upon returning to her homeland. The guests plan to soon return to Japan.

Carroll County notes the death of William Adams Word in Bowdon aged eighty. He joined Missionary Baptist church eighty years ago and died after long service in the community. Survived by two sons, a daughter, a brother and a sister, with funeral by Rev. W. W. Roop.
The Carrollton American Red Cross Society held a meeting led by Rev. W. T. Hamby. Enrollment reached 108 with a broadened membership committee and new canvassing divisions for Newnan, College, Depot, Routh, Alabama streets, and offices. Next meeting scheduled for Thursday.
Mr E E Bazemore announces he will join the Bullard Company starting next Monday the 17th inst to assist with their calls and services, informing friends and the public of the association.
Mrs. Sallie Atwell died about 80 in Carrollton after forty years as a resident. She leaves no children but survives daughter in law Mrs. Alice Atwell and four grandsons W A Upshaw R B Upshaw Tonmie Atwell all of Carrollton. She was born Sallie B Jackson in Meriwether County and married Alban Upshaw of Coweta County.
A city primary will nominate a successor to Mayor Spence. Candidates include T. O Hledaoey VF Merrell and J. W. Flournng. Voting will be at the court house with polls open at the first hour. Offie terms expire on first Monday in Ontario.
Mul Thomas Le Plowman of Tatne Moya, president of the Pankhead Highway association, reported strong public interest in a major road project from Athinti through Birmingham to Memphis. He described crowds, including 3,000 at a village stop and 2,000 at Bowlsn, with many participants discussing farm and industry goals despite rain.
