On Friday night Zeb Page shot and killed Barlow at a dance hall run by negroes near the Kaylor stores on Alabama street. Police took Page to jail where he awaits the next court term. The incident follows ongoing concerns about negro crowds at the hall and its nuisance status.
The literary school at Beulah Academy three miles northwest of Carrollton on the Central railroad opens Monday July 8 1907 for a two month summer term. Patrons are urged to enroll their children on the first day. J L Almon Teacher.
An old advertisement promotes LAXATIVE BROMO QUININE tablets promising to cure sore throat and cold in one day. It offers a money back guarantee if it fails and notes B. W. Grove’s signature on each box with a price of 28 cents.
Next Thursday marks a big Carrollton Fourth celebration with a celebrated parade led by the Carrollton Band and a full program. Residents are urged to attend and bring baskets to the college ground if needed, with baskets collected by call инo 73. Masons are asked to wear aprons for the event.
Mr. C. W. Chears of the Central of Georgia Railroad will run an extra train from Newnan and Bremen to the area on the Fourth of July to enable residents along the line to attend the cornerstone laying of Av&.M. College.
The Ladies Society of the Presbyterian Church hosted a reception for church and Sunday School members. Rev. W. E. Dozier, N. A. Horton, C. K. Henderson, and J. O. Newell spoke. Miss Mary Dozier sang Just a Little Pansy and Miss Italy Simonton with Mr. Richard Dozier performed a duet. Cream and cake followed.
Mrs Mayme McDonald presents a recital of musical selections and recitations next Sunday evening at the school auditorium. The program is arranged with care and promises interest. Proceeds benefit the Paul Hayne Library and school piano funds with admission set at 25 and 1 cents.
Tax Receiver O F Lambert announces an extension of the 1967 tax return deadline to July 4. Those who fail to file will face inclusion on the de faulters list and double taxation. Meet at the Court House office any day up to July 4 to tend to it.

Obituary notes Leila Hulsey Turner aged twenty seven of Carrollton died on December 25. She united with the Anniston Baptist Church and later with the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. Funeral services were held December 26 at the Methodist Church with broad community attendance. Her husband, parents, siblings and many friends mourn her loss, while her memory is honored with floral tributes and church tributes.
