Watson Bound Over in Obscene Mail Case

Tom Watson of Thomson was bound over for trial in Federal court after a Friday preliminary hearing in Augusta on charges by post office authorities that he sent obscene material through the mails. District Attorney Alexander Akermann of Macon argued that a copyrighted work can be claimed if one is the author and that Supreme Court decisions focus on depravity rather than motive in judging obscenity.

Tax Receiver extends hours for 1912 state and county tax returns

Notice to tax payers extends office hours through July 2 1912 for filing state and county tax returns. Tax collector A E Nix will visit Temple June 20 from 7 to 10 am Villa Rica June 20 from noon to 5 pm Bowdon June 21 from 6 to 10 pm to collect and prevent double taxation.

Grace Operated on for Bullet Removal in Atlanta Case

Newnan Georgia June 12 Eugene H Grace who was shot in his Atlanta home in March and was partly paralyzed was operated on today to remove a bullet believed to have touched the spine. The bullet was found embedded in a vertebra and not in the spinal column, the spinal cord is intact and paralysis caused by pressure. Grace showed no bad effects and is expected to recover. Mrs Daisy Opie Grace his wife is free on bond awaiting trial.

Eight New Teachers Elected by City Board of Education

At the last monthly meeting the City Board of Education elected eight new teachers. Lucy Cobb of Temple will teach part of first primary grade, Jennie Darden of Carrollton assists in West View school, Ethel Stevens of Ball Ground for fifth grade, Nell Fielder of Cedartown for sixth grade, Annie Mae Robertson of Newnan for seventh grade, Pattie Threadgille of Central 5 C in the music department, and Maud Gowdy of York Alabama. They come highly recommended and are expected to be valuable additions to the public school faculty.

First Baptist Revival Starts Next Sunday at 11 AM

Revival services begin next Sunday at 11 o clock with a sermon titled A Great Revival by the pastor. The pastor desires 100 conversions and invites all to attend Sunday morning for a warm welcome. Dr Purser will be with us Monday June 17.

Death of infant Little Buford Cole

Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Walker died at home on Dixie Street Tuesday afternoon after four months eleven days. The brief life drew deep sorrow for loving parents and relatives. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon with many friends in attendance.
