Sunday School Convention at Pleasant Grove Church May Meeting
The Sunday School Convention of Villa Rica division met at Pleasant Grove Church on May 29. Chairman J T Hix opened with a song by J C Hixon, read the 23rd Psalm, and led in prayer by S O Fielder. Horace Hixon gave the welcome, with response from Guy Wells. W B Candler led the lesson, A K Snead spoke on Sunday School work, and Rev J M Dodd preached on Matthew's text. Committees appointed. afternoon session featured talks by Judge Jas Beall and Rev A J Morgan. resolutions favor a standing committee, Sabbath observance talks, careful teacher selection, pastor sermons on SS work, and renewed emphasis on church and SS activity. Citizens met at the Court House to discuss railfacilities and reducing costly freight to Central Railroad. A new line from Carrollton to a Southern or Seaboard point is proposed, with $50,000 charter and $36,000 already subscribed, a committee to canvass for the balance, and a plan to organize.

Convention Officers Elected As Nine Schools Report Interest
S Fielder chaired the nominations committee which named J T Hixon as President and Supt at each SS division and Vice President of the convention. S H Pierce was Secretary. The convention adopted the resolutions as reported after 11 schools sent favorable reports and attendance rose. The executive committee was entrusted with selecting the meeting place. The session closed with a prayer led by Bro Abercrom.
