Rev. S. R. Bell will deliver a magnificent lecture at the courthouse Thursday night. The lecture is described as high class entertainment with instruction wit and humor. All are encouraged to attend Heb. 21, 1997.
Concord residents Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Ward visited the latter’s parents Saturday night. Abilene hosted regular meeting days last weekend. Bro. Walker missed Saturday but led a prayer service and conference with a strong Sunday turnout. Mollie Patton of Griffin visited relatives near Whitesburg, and J. O. Moore spent Sunday in Carrollton. Uncle Sol Patton visited the community last week. Hight Jones visited his brother C. O. Jones near Whitesburg. Miss Van MelKenzie is visiting Carrollton this week.
A string of items reports visits and travels by residents of Newnan Atlanta Clem and Carrollton. Seed and white goods are advertised by Baskin Baskin with new silk arrivals and laundry and pressing services. Local crews and stores change hands, funerals and weddings noted, plus stray animals and a joke about a lawyer and an umbrella. Kodol digestives offered by W E Johnson & Co.
The marriage of Mr. N. N. Spence to Miss Clara Meadows occurred Sunday Feb roth at the bride’s home on College Street at 12:15 PM. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. S. Dozier with a small close circle, followed by a reception then departure for Newnan and Nelson, Ga., their future home.
Miss Bessie Bledsoe entertained last Friday with games of flinch and up-jinks for the Third Grade High School. Late refreshments were served by Misses Carrie Lee Liffey and Bessie Bledsoe. attendees included Lena Hogan Kate Thornton Clyde Lifsey Eunice Dozier Ruby Beall Mamie Brandenburg Hattie Aycock Percy Fleming Evie Johnson Loyd Aycock Robert Rozar Edgar Johnson Raymond Robinson Will Simonton.

Mrs N N Lowrey born May 1832 in Walton County Georgia died after months of declining health on Saturday the ninth inst and funeral services were held May 13 at the First Baptist Church She married Major N N Lowrey in 1856 and moved to the county in 1860 Leaving a husband and three children she remained devoted to her church and Bible to the end The obituary notes her faith and describes her as a life guide through the gates.

A wave of sickness grips the county with LaGrippe striking Mrs. M. E McWhorter for two weeks. Mr. W. R. Causey reports a child severely ill with pneumonia. Louella Neely and Mandy Holcomb visited Mary McWhorter while Miss Mattie Garrett visited Tom Garrett. John Tarpley and family spent Sunday night with J. H. McWhorter.
