Notice of Election on ratifying Board of Commissioners act

An election will be held at all county precincts on September 11 to ratify an act creating a Board of Commissioners of trade and revenue. All General Assembly voters may vote. Sunday School Convention Set for Cross Plains September

The County Sunday School Convention gathers for its second division at Cross Plains in September for the third quarterly meeting. Programs list opening devotional by J L Spradlin of Hulett and addresses by Latimoer, Richards, Byrd Kelly, Garst, and Mcwhorter with talks from each school and songs led by John T J Boyd of Hulett.

Carrollton Public Schools Open Monday Under New Superintendent

The fall session of Carrollton Public Schools begins Monday with Prof. H. B. Adams as the new superintendent. He has been busy with preliminaries and urges all interested to attend the opening exercises and start children to school on the first day.

Georgia Game Laws Extend Open Seasons

The Legislature set the dove hunting season from September 1 to February 28, extending beyond the former August 15 start. Quail season runs November 1 to March 15. Severe penalties are declared for violations of the state game laws.

Corner Stone Laying for Bowdon Masonic Temple

Bowdon Lodge No 206 lays the corner stone of a new Masonic edifice at Main and Wedowee streets Bowdon assisted by Carroll County Masons. Grand Master officiated and Col John O Newell introduced Congressman W C Adamson who spoke on the principles and benefits of Masonry. A barbecue and speeches followed a day of festivities for Masonry in Western Georgia.

Carrollton Hosts Semi annual Progressive Singing Session

The Carroll County Progressive Singing Convention schedules its semi annual meeting in Carrollton on September 7 and 8, 1907. Prominent musicians including Prof A J Showalter are expected to attend. Opposition to Immigration by Whooping Creek Local 591

Three Men Killed as Central of Georgia Engine Explodes

A Central of Georgia freight engine 1014 blew up at Raccoon Mills on the Chattanooga division at 4 o clock Sunday morning killing Engineer Hutchens and Brakeman Welcher outright while Fireman Borders died later. Hutchens was grandson of the late Rev N J Tumlin of Cedartown. Funerals followed Monday at Cedartown.

Policeman Lawrence Hunt was shot and killed about 2 am Sunday in Moore store on Gibson Street near the Seaboard Air Line crossing. A disorderly melee involving Charley Walker, Tebe Young, and Ed Walker led to Hunt's weapon being taken and a fatal shot.
