Man fatally shoots mother in law after wife attack near West hooks place

Late Sunday Ernest Meliver entered the area two miles from town and shot at his wife four times. One bullet struck her arm and two failed to take effect while a third hit the mother in law, killing her. Meliver is jailed awaiting trial at the October term of the Superior court.

School Notice Announces Fall Openings and Class Cards

The Pullin school opens Monday morning in September with two rooms at the high school for home economics. Miss Mary Smith will lead the new department and Mr Malcolm Graybill will teach military science. On Friday at nine, August 80th, teachers will issue enrollment cards to pupils in grades six and below from College and Maple streets. Cards are limited by room capacity and may require inter-district attendance if a district is full. First-time entrants and summer-promoted pupils will take tests for reclassification. non-promoted students who were not satisfied with summer results need not come. The Board of Education and teachers pledge to serve all children, urging parental cooperation.
