Old Soldier Swallows Acid in Despondent Mood

Homer Davis, an elderly veteran, ingested carbolic acid Saturday morning amid a despondent mood. He was found by a relative and rushed to a hospital for treatment. Authorities investigated no foul play and no exact motive was reported.

Pioneer Lady Sarah W. Collins Dies at Home East of Town

Sarah W. Collins, a longtime pioneer resident, died Tuesday morning at her home east of town. She was known for her community involvement and family roots in the area. A funeral service will be held at the local church with burial to follow in the adjacent cemetery.
