Feet Severed by Mowing Machine Accident at Local Farm
Twelve year old Jot Byrne, son of Patrick Byrne, lost parts of both feet when a mowing machine blade struck him four miles northwest of town on Rush McCubblehayn Oxbate Farm. Reports vary on exact cause, from the horses starting unexpectedly to the boy chasing rabbits. He was treated by Drs Artle and Robbins and later brought home, with doctors hopeful both feet can be saved and amputation avoided.

Grand Matron Visit and Apoplexy Fatality in Carmi
The Sullivan Times reports the Grand Matron's visit to Apoplesy Chapter with new officer rites for Ass Admee Lovers and a social afterglow of sherbet and ice cream. Mrs Epima Cummins died of apoplexy after a stroke two weeks earlier at her home on South State Street, Carmi, aged forty nine, survived by husband Charles Cummins five sons daughter Lelia and granddaughter Mary Margaret, with service planned in Carmi. She was known as sister in law to local members Mrs Chas Schu, Mrs Nannie Hackney, and Mrs C B Willis.

Wreck Delays C and E L Passenger Train Near St Anna
A northbound C and E L passenger train was delayed about six hours after a wreck at St Anna, six percent miles south of Chicago and north of Danville. The fast southbound train was due around 3:00 a.m. It jumped the track and three coaches telescoped. The fireman was killed.
