Will Plummer aged 24 son of Calvin Plummer of east of town attempted suicide by drinking carbolic acid in his yard early Sunday. Family administered an antidote and he survived. severe mouth and tongue burns left him unable to talk for two days. Threshing Season Opens Near Carlisle
The threshing season starts in the Carlisle area with Charles Knotts first to market wheat. He sold about 600 bushels to Home Mill and Elevator Company, the load testing 62 and graded No 2, at 72 cents per bushel. A government crop report links low wheat prices to a larger nationwide crop.
