Runaway Livery Rig Demolished Near Paxton
A Hudson barn livery rig was demolished at a railroad crossing south of Paxton when the horse bolted at an approaching freight train. Driver Ira Walker escaped injury while passenger Purcell, a Bey & Co. traveling salesman, suffered a mashed finger and torn clothing but resumed his trip after securing replacement garments.

Two Pitchers Go Up in Smoke
The Carlisle White Sox defeated Clinton Push 8 to 3 at Curtner Park on Sunday. C. Shepherd started for Carlisle, then McNaughton pitched the final eight innings as Clinton led 3 to 2 after seven innings. Carlisle mounted a seven run seventh inning, then held on as Clinton’s pitching faltered.

Women Injured by Lightning Striking Clothes Lines
Just before a heavy rain storm that swept Carlisle and nearby areas last Thursday two women were slightly injured when lightning struck clothes lines they were using. Mrs. D B Kerkhof of Carlisle suffered a severe shock and needed help to reach the house. Dr. F L Robbins attended her. Mrs. Isaac Douthitt of Indian Prairie was also shocked while hanging clothes and fell, injuring her neck and spine. The Douthitt home lost a two foot wide strip of shingles. damage was fully insured.

Farmers Seek Injunction Over Large Pump Damaging Crops
George W Funk James Hallett Nellie Hallett and Samuel Phegley sue William H Jones and Humphrey Jones in Gill township alleging a 500000 gallon per hour pump and levee cause floodwater overflow from the Wabash river onto their lands. Hunt Gambill represent plaintiffs.

Fire Damages West Street Home With Small Blaze
A defective flue caused a Sunday morning fire at about nine o'clock in a West street residence owned by Mrs. Selena Seever and occupied by David E. Stewart the jeweler. The fire started in the kitchen chimney and spread to the shingles but was extinguished before the fire department arrived. damage was slight.
