The state health bulletin for April shows measles as the most prevalent disease with 80 deaths, scarlet fever widespread though mild, and total deaths at 22. Deaths from pulmonary tuberculosis reach 300. Smallpox appears in 32 localities with few deaths. March births total 4,907. stillbirths 154. Regional death rates vary, highest in Clay County at 29.3.
The E. and T. H. introduces summer schedule with changes to trains serving Car Isle. No. 7 southbound now 9 07 a m, No. 2 northbound now 10 11 a m, No. 4 northbound now 7 25 p m from the old times 9 40, 10 19, 7 55 p m respectively.
A town tale near the Peoples State Bank tells of a daughter and her suitor eluding her father who objected to their courtship. They borrowed his horse and buggy from the public hitching rack for a ride until the indignant parent, unable to stop them, ended the pursuit when the couple returned and peace was restored.

Stock holders in charge of the Carlisle acetylene gas plant have bought a Hackett street lot from Joe Hume and Rush Trimble for the gas house. The purchase closed Monday, a carload of construction material arrived the same day, and work will start immediately with completion expected October 1.
Mrs E Lee Douthitt was taken to Indianapolis Monday for gall stone removal at Methodist hospital accompanied by her husband and her brother Dr Everett E Padgett of Indianapolis who came down due to his sister sickness.
Want Drainage Ditch James Phegley and other land owners filed in circuit court a petition against Joseph Emberg Frank Sproatt trustee of Haddon township and others for a drainage ditch two miles long in the southwest part of the township. A D Cutler represents the petitioners.
The message directs the Lodge hall to return to the hall all collars taken home from funerals and other gatherings by order of the N G Roy McCormick Host.
