Citizens are urged to buy locally this Christmas to aid Carlisle merchants and keep money within the community. The plea argues money sent to Chicago and other cities drains local wealth, while households shopping at home enrich town banks and services. It advocates forming a habit of trading with home merchants.
Town of Carlisle held two meetings last week. A December 2 special session organized a board of finance and elected D. F. Shake president and J. Frank Sproatt secretary. December 5 regular session showed two members present and a $400 bank loan to cover claims until January funds. Claims totaling numerous small amounts were allowed as listed, with next meeting set to hear the finance board report and select a public depository.
Mrs Ed Johnson hosted the Mission Band children from 2 to 5 PM Saturday December 7. Thirty eight band members attended and enjoyed the event. A sewing circle was formed and will meet semi monthly at Mrs Johnsons home. Officers elected were Ella Whalen president Bernice McConnell vice president and Bess Hill secretary treasurer. Refreshments of peaches whipped cream and cake were served.

Miss Laura White sold her millinery establishment on Wednesday December 8 to Miss Faye Lisman daughter of Mrs John W Lisman She has run the business since February after purchasing the millinery part of Kivelis store Lisman formerly head trimmer at Springer Carruthers Sullivan and will operate in the Davis building opposite The First National Bank White moves to Linton to make her home and friends regret the departure
Mrs. Greene Bland from Oak town returned home Sunday after visiting Cornelius Bland and family. Miss Mollie Ash traveled to Terre Haute Sunday morning and returned that afternoon with her sister Miss Mabel Ash who had been visiting Mr and Mrs Minor Howard in Hillsdale Ind.
G. E. Douthitt of Sullivan visited relatives near Pleasantville on Sunday, returning home afterward.
Mrs Fannie Bond of Quak town spent Saturday visiting Mrs Sallie Ridgway.
