State Budget Hearing Notes Loss For North Gem School District

Idaho Legislature and President Nixon veto will cost North Gem School District over 30000 dollars next year. Superintendent Walter J Moore told a larger group at this year’s budget hearing that about 3000 dollars of the loss comes from the legislature cutting the ceiling from 80 to 27 mills for M and C feet. Attendance at the hearing was high and the board unanimously approved the 1973 budget.

The 1016th Field Service Company detachment in Soda Springs Idaho plans community projects under Col Everitt E Dahl commander. Projects include ski area refurbishment and Fort Connor cemetery data collection with Salvage and Service Platoon welding safety work and Graves Registration Platoon historian aid.

County High Set to Graduate 139 Seniors

county high plans commencement events with 139 seniors set to graduate. 88 will receive diplomas at Soda Springs on Sunday at 2 00 pm. Baccalaureate services were held in the high school auditorium with Connie Rasmussen giving the invocation. Reserved reception and receiving line to follow. Long list of graduating seniors from several schools including Grace and North Gem High.

The Soda Springs high school golf squad placed third at the district meet behind American Falls and Bear Lake with Preston fourth. Jeff Davis earned medalist honors with 82, while Miles Stephens carded 34. The Cardinals beat Preston and Bear Lake four times each but finished behind American Falls at districts.

The Soda Springs Public Library hosts a Summer Reading program from May 25 to July 2 for students from second through ninth grade.
