School Trustees Election Set as Voters Consider Seats

In Franklin County Idaho, Zone 1 and Zone 4 electors will vote Tuesday for new trustees at Thatcher area schools. Incumbents declined bids. Fern Wright and Don Peterson did not file for re election. Polls open 1 pm at Grace High School and Thatcher polling place.

First Grade Readiness Tests Set for May at Two Elementary Schools

Parents are invited to attend the May 10 readiness test for first graders at Hooper and Kirkwood elementary schools. Students must be six by October 15 and bring a birth certificate. Testing begins at 8:30 and ends by 11:20 with no lunch.

Farm Bureau to Sponsor Tree Planting Project

Grace Farm Bureau partners with Make America Beautiful to plant trees along the highway between Grace and Niter. About 30 trees were planted last year and 45 more will be added at a cost of 189 dollars. Idaho State Highway Department handles planting and watering through the growing season under the supervision of Bob Harrison.

76 To Receive Diplomas In LDS Seminary Rites

The annual LDS Seminary graduation exercises will be held at the Stake Building Wednesday May 15 at 8 p m Thirty nine students will receive three year diplomas with 35 senior students receiving four year diplomas In addition two senior students will receive one year certificates The public is invited to attend the exercises at which Vaughn Papa Charlene Sanders and Pat Larsen senior members of the Seminary student council for the past school year will be the speakers Dr LeRoy Jorgensen representative of the LDS Institute of Religion will be in attendance A reception honoring the graduates will be held for parents and friends in the cultural hall immediately following the exercises Seniors who have had one year are Karen White Owl and Linda Watkins.

Soda Springs ends its community clean-up week with a public dump open to residents from 12 noon to 7 pm on Friday and Saturday to finish collection and disposal.

Caribou County Fair Board Plans 1968 Program

The Caribou County Fair board met on April 22 to outline this year’s fair program and assign workers. Extension agent Cecil Alldaffer led the session at the request of chairman Lowell Thomas. About 30 prior-year workers offered names for 1968 roles. letters will be sent next week to invite help across divisions. New members are Ross Hogan, Vester Olson, and Charles Reagan joined alongside holdover Lowell Thomas, Alice Smith, and Al Evans. A follow‑up meeting occurred May 6 to continue planning.

The Sno-Drifters club urges riders to help repair property damage and clean cabin and picnic areas used in winter. A cleanup meet is planned for Saturday May 11 at 6:00 p.m. led by president Bob Orndorff.

Lutherans To Conduct Service In Soda Springs

A Lutheran Preaching Station will be held in Soda Springs guiding services on the second and last Sunday of each month at the First Southern Baptist Church. Pastor L. C. Glaser of Aberdeen will travel to lead the 3:00 p.m. service followed by Sunday School.

Closed Fire Season Begins May 10 in Idaho

Idaho declares a closed fire season effective May 10 outside cities. It will be unlawful to burn without a permit from Public Lands, Forest Service, or Grazing District offices. Ed Ring notes campers smokers and debris burners cause 25 percent of fires, stressing citizen responsibility to prevent them.

Caribou County highway bid advertisement announced by board member C ed Flandro. Project covers Conda Road SH 34 Conda to Jet including drainage and 2189 miles of bituminous surfacing.
