Soda Springs high school announces commencement on Wednesday May 0 at Lake Center Idaho to avoid crowding. A record class of 76 will graduate with a reception planned by senior mothers followed by a buffet supper dance at the high school and activities including a theater movie and bowling, ending with a breakfast.
Parents and students are informed that first grade entrance tests will be held Friday May 10 1910 at Hooper Thrutt Elementary Schools. Students must be six years old on or before October 15 and provide a birth certificate. Registration starts promptly and a $0 fee applies.
Roy Daniels says the Forest Service office at 40 E South will be open 9 a m to 6 p m from May 6 through Sept 20 to improve service during noon hour and aid users. Clerk Shirley Lund notes maps information and recreation use will be available five days a week.
Thomas G. Kunz 40 of Georgetown died instantly in a 1 am collision while returning home from Monsanto Co plant in Soda Springs. His southbound car struck a van trailer on the divide about four and a half miles northwest of Georgetown. The truck driver Walter Wanek of Henderson Cole was uninjured. Kunz is survived by his wife and four children. Funeral services were held in Georgetown Monday.
About 2000 Scouts and Scouters from the Tenday Council will converge on Idaho State University campus Saturday May 11 for the Scout-O-Rama encampment. Gates open at noon with cookouts, camporee style skill contests from 2 to 4 PM and demonstrations from 5 to 8 PM including signaling first aid rope and cooking.
The second annual Rock and Hobby Show will be held May 18-19 at Soda Springs Junior High School. It features rock displays, hobbies, and more. A snack bar will serve the public and a parade to the city square is planned with opening ceremonies led by Jake Tennant as parade chair.

KBRV reports Soda Springs weather for April from the US Weather Bureau station. The warmest day reached 71 degrees on April 30, and the coldest was 13 degrees on April 22. There were 18 cloudy days and 12 clear days with two inches of snow on the 6th that melted quickly. Average precipitation was .77 inches.
Patsy Campbell of Soda Springs was announced as the winner of the War Mother's quilt in a drawing at the organization’s regular meeting Saturday April 27.
The Sun reports the campaign ends Saturday with county residents urged to submit new or renewal subscriptions to the volunteers. Forest Service engineers deploy Uranine dye on snow above the Tincup Creek mud slide to trace water flow and identify slide causes. If dye appears in active slides, source is identified. if not, underground water and spring rains are studied. Engineer Bovey leads the effort and assures dye safety for people and wildlife.
Bids opened for a sealcoat job on US 30N and SH 34 with about 284 miles of pavement to treat. Winn & Co Inc of Buhl led three bids at 68 035 50 for work in Caribou Franklin and Bear Lake counties with stockpiled aggregate near Montpelier and Soda Springs.
Stan Kress, counselor for School District No. 150, tours Annapolis and Washington with about 30 Idaho counselors. They depart Mountain Home Base Monday and expect to return Thursday evening after visiting the Naval Academy and the nation’s capital.

A baccalaureate service will be held in the Soda Springs High School auditorium on Sunday May 19 at 3 30 p m to avoid conflicting with church services. All seniors parents and friends are invited.

Idaho Education Association statewide sanctions showed little effect on School District No 150 Soda Springs with only two teaching vacancies as of April 22. Most staff plan to return, three new hires join, and Emoor Bordelon returns to teach high school. 1968-69 faculty assignments list numerous teachers across Soda Springs High, JH, and elementary schools.
Mrs. Rita Burgin, previously hospitalized in Pocatello for a knee injury, was moved to Caribou County Hospital in Soda Springs on Saturday. She will remain there for several weeks to recuperate.
A program on alcoholism and narcotics will be presented to Soda Springs High School students by the State Department of Health this morning at 9 00 a m in the school auditorium.
