Commencement scheduled at Lake Center for 1968 graduates

Soda Springs high school announces commencement on Wednesday May 0 at Lake Center Idaho to avoid crowding. A record class of 76 will graduate with a reception planned by senior mothers followed by a buffet supper dance at the high school and activities including a theater movie and bowling, ending with a breakfast.

First Grade Entrance Tests Scheduled for May 10

Parents and students are informed that first grade entrance tests will be held Friday May 10 1910 at Hooper Thrutt Elementary Schools. Students must be six years old on or before October 15 and provide a birth certificate. Registration starts promptly and a $0 fee applies.

Forest Service opens longer hours May six at Forest Office

Roy Daniels says the Forest Service office at 40 E South will be open 9 a m to 6 p m from May 6 through Sept 20 to improve service during noon hour and aid users. Clerk Shirley Lund notes maps information and recreation use will be available five days a week.

Furnace foreman killed in head on highway crash

Thomas G. Kunz 40 of Georgetown died instantly in a 1 am collision while returning home from Monsanto Co plant in Soda Springs. His southbound car struck a van trailer on the divide about four and a half miles northwest of Georgetown. The truck driver Walter Wanek of Henderson Cole was uninjured. Kunz is survived by his wife and four children. Funeral services were held in Georgetown Monday.

Scout-O-Rama Set for ISU Campus May 11

About 2000 Scouts and Scouters from the Tenday Council will converge on Idaho State University campus Saturday May 11 for the Scout-O-Rama encampment. Gates open at noon with cookouts, camporee style skill contests from 2 to 4 PM and demonstrations from 5 to 8 PM including signaling first aid rope and cooking.

Mrs. Rita Burgin, previously hospitalized in Pocatello for a knee injury, was moved to Caribou County Hospital in Soda Springs on Saturday. She will remain there for several weeks to recuperate.
