Findlay guidance director of Soda was elected vice president elect for 1966 87 at the Education Association assembly in Lewiston. Five amendments were approved by referendum. The event included remarks on welfare and family economic issues and noted prior leadership roles within the association.

Twenty Four Youths Join Sun Self-Help Subscription Drive

Twenty four youngsters in Caribou County have entered The Sun Self-Help campaign to earn cash commissions for subscriptions and renewals. The drive runs to May 21, with bonuses for every 10 subscriptions and a personal cash payout for each sale.

Man Arrested After Attempted Abduction Near Soda Springs

Three Soda Springs girls alerted staff when a man in a car tried to lure them. The father reported the incident, police and Caribou County sheriff's office coordinated, the suspect was arrested in Grace and held for parole violation in Bingham County. Authorities praise the girls and warn parents to caution children about such incidents.

Grace hosts art fair and citizenship ceremony

Grace Idaho hosts an art demonstration afternoon at Grace High School gym on May 1 with six artists from Utah and Idaho. Demonstrations run 1 to 4 pm. featured artists include Harrison Lindstrom Jesse Mr Groutage Oliver Parson and Fred Ochi. Admission is 50 cents for students and $1 for adults.

Captain George Birdt Takes Command Aboard U S Cascade

Captain George Birdt assumed command of the U S Cascade off Palomares Spain in aformal ceremony. He succeeds Captain Lewis K Worthington and will report to Subic Bay Philippines as commanding officer. Birdt, a New York City native and Kings Point graduate, holds a MS in International Affairs and served in World War II. He formerly led the U S Davis DD 937 and later served as executive officer at the Newport Destroyer School. He is married to Eleanor Jean Snell with two daughters Margaret Ann and Barbara Lynn.

Sign Up For Cropland Program Will Close Soon

J Emerson Mabey chairman of the Stabilization Committee warns farmers that signup for the Cropland Adjustment Program CAP remains open but ends May 13. CAP helps balance supply and demand, offers more outdoor recreation, and aids farmers shifting from surplus production or retiring while staying on the farm.

Jay-Cettes Sponsor Queen for a Day Program

The Soda Springs Jay-Cettes sponsor their annual Queen for a Day event May 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the junior high auditorium. A talent program precedes the queen and two attendants drawing from attendee tickets, with gifts from local merchants. Tickets are available at KBRV Radio or through Jay-O-Ette members, at door or from general chair Jean Windley. Last year's queen was Mrs. Lillian Bolton of Conda, with attendants Mrs. Vivian Watts and Mrs. Ann Evans of Soda Springs.

Long term CAP urges diversions of acreage for participation

Farmers urged to divert acreage under a long term rather than annual agreement as May 23 is the last day to file a CAP application for program participation.

Safe Traffic Patrol Boosts Soda Springs Students

Sixteen fifth graders at Soda Springs Elementary staff a school crosswalk safety patrol trained by Chief Buck Lallatin. Patrol members direct traffic from 6:30 to 9:00 AM and 3:30 to 4:00 PM, report violators, and can identify cars and drivers. The program is sponsored by the City Law Department with uniforms and equipment supplied by Monsanto Company Wells Cargo and Stedderd Distributing Co.
