The Soda Springs effort mobilizes residents to haul away debris with a wrecker on site for those who cannot do the work. Orvil at Intermountain Gas coordinates Saturday collection while Scouts led by Walt Bingham join in. Cub Scouts elect a meet day to assist, with the Chamber of Commerce noting the event at post.
A group of Gem High students and their adviser joined a state legislature session. They toured, observed debates, and discussed student interests with lawmakers and officials.
The Fair Board invites entrants for the Caribou County Rodeo King and Queen contests to be held May 25 at Grace. Little Buckaroo King and Queen also chosen. contestants must meet age and residency rules. Applications with photo go to Alice Smith in Grace by May 21, 1963.
All farmers in Caribou County and surrounding areas are invited to a May 6 8:00 p.m. meeting at Soda Springs Junior High School to learn about the 1964 Wheat Referendum. Extension Farm Management Specialist Virgil Kennedy will lead the session sponsored by the Extension Service. Plan to attend and be informed before voting on May 21.
Grace woman Leana Nester Hawker died in Denver after a pneumonia illness while visiting her daughter at a Florida convention. Funeral services were held in Grace with Bishop John J Thongs officiating. She had lived in Grace most of her life, was married to William Hawker, and survived by her husband and a son Leland and two daughters.
The scabies outbreak prompted a coordinated eradication program with the Idaho Bureau of Animal Industry and the University of Idaho. Across Bear Lake Franklin Caribou and nearby areas 55,384 cattle in 356 herds were treated, with 27,544 inspected, and a second treatment given to 3,111 head.
The Soda Springs High School Key Club received 140 one pound boxes of Weatherly's peanut brittle candy to sell in a fundraising drive. Members will hawk house-to-house this week to raise money for current high school projects. Each box costs $1.00.
The Women's City Association hosts a bowling tournament at Tosoiba Lanes on May 4 and 5. Spectators are invited to watch as trophies and cash prizes are awarded to winners.

A US Army division marching from Fort Carson Colorado to Yakima Washington passed through Soda Springs over a three day period. Saturday saw 300 vehicles and several helicopters, weather forced brief landings, Sunday logged 600 vehicles and more copters, and Monday 300 more vehicles as the column started west toward Utah then Colorado. The text notes the division’s return to base in Colorado.
Idaho's Legislature in the Thirty Second Session amended the Ground Water Statutes to simplify establishing Critical Ground Water Areas and to permit processing applications without notice publication. The Reclamation Engineer may designate critical areas and enforcement can be pursued by the county prosecutor if local orders are violated. Logs are stressed as essential to assess depletion risks and may delay licenses until delinquent logs are submitted.

Grace High School will send Ray Welker and LaGrande McGregor as Boys State delegates to Boise June 9 to 16. Also chosen are Sharon Taylor and Julie Sargent as Girls State delegates, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. The Grace Lions Club and Legion Post co sponsor Boys State.
The W B A Club will hold its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Mattie Christensen at 8 00 p m on Thursday evening May 2 All members are urged to attend.
Idaho Livestock Day at Caldwell Branch Experiment Station runs May 2 to 4 with sessions on swine May 2, sheep May 3, and beef May 4. Topics include swine maintenance and nutrition, sheep Dry Lot pasture management, vibriosis research, carcass data, and beef feeding and range performance. A Beef-O-Rama Dinner at 6:30 p.m. is sponsored by the Idaho Cattlemen and Feeders Association and Caldwell Chamber of Commerce.
Caribou Water Development Co. of Soda Springs announces plans to construct an irrigation dam on Bear River south of Soda Springs. The project would impound 40 000 acre feet to irrigate about 29 000 acres under the Last Chance Canal and Farmer's Land and Irrigation Canal via exchange with Bear River Water. Incorporators include Harold Lowe Rae Sorenson Reed Budge and Wallace Transtrum. The company seeks ownership of water rights and rights of way to build dams reservoirs canals ditches pipes and aqueducts for domestic irrigation and industrial uses.

Twenty six Caribou County students join nearly three thousand attending Idaho State College this semester. Towns represented include Bancroft Central Grace Soda Springs with multiple names listed. Located in Pocatello the college will become Idaho State University in July.
