Larry D. Anderson lauds the Soda Springs Sno-Drifters and the entire community for a successful Idaho State Championship Snowmobile Race. The event benefited from hundreds of volunteer hours, local business support, and civic effort, boosting community spirit and growth.
Plans finalize for the annual Golf Club event to be held Saturday April 14. Details and ticket dates will be announced after a weekend meeting.
The district sponsors a public soil meeting Thursday March 15 1973 from 1 00 to 3 30 PM in the Legion Room at Caribou County Courthouse. Speakers Harold Harris and Bob Baum of the Soil Conservation Service Idaho will discuss grasses legumes range management and related topics with a Q A session. Nathan Allen injured February 24 in a snowmachine accident while being pulled on a tube. he is the son of Mr and Mrs Ray Allen.
At a Chamber of Commerce meeting on March 1 the Caribou Development Corporation announced readiness to activate after a year of planning. It outlines aims to foster industrial growth in Soda Springs Idaho and to assist new and expanding businesses in the area. The firm plans to raise 500 shares at 100 each, totaling 50000, with officers including Jerry K. Reeve as president and director and Stanley F. Darius as vice president. The initial priority is selling stock to fund operations and activities.

Heather Pinchin and Harry Aoki present the New Moods Of Man in a Saturday concert at 8 15 p m in the Soda Springs High School auditorium. The duo mix vocal and instrumental pieces reflecting Canadian folk and international songs. Pinchin is a versatile singer and multi-instrumentalist. Aoki is the arranger and bass harmonica virtuoso.
District and National officers will be present Friday evening March 9 to answer questions about Veteran's benefits. The meeting starts at 7 30 in the Legion room at the County Courthouse. Veterans and family members are invited to attend and join the post.
The PTA hosts a film program on Wednesday March 14 at 8 pm at Thirkill Elementary directed by Karen Stoor. Two short films will be shown The first features the February 28 Rexburg reading workshop titled The Right to Read conducted by Eleanor Robinson a four time U S conference representative. The second film highlights cancer awareness Refreshments follow Mrs Stoor notes the event aims to reach all.
Yvon Duhamel of Valcourt Canada won the Idaho State Snowmobile Racing championship finale at Snow Races. He rode an 800 modified Skidoo to victory earning 500 dollars and a goose down jacket amid a $11 000 purse. Local racers Rusty Hayes Wilder Hatch Lloyd Wilson Ken Reed placed in events. Sno-Drifters plan Pro-Am races next season to classify drivers by level rather than machines.
The International Reading Association sets illiteracy eradication as a 1979 objective. A February workshop at Manwaring Center, Ricks College, involved teachers from Soda Springs and nearby areas with PTA officers, principals, and community members. Eleanor Rotisor cited US illiteracy rates and urged community action to support reading, stressing education as a shared effort.
