Nelson conomist k At icheon son, vice president of the First Secur n, Salt Lake City, will be guest speaker at the County Farm Day sponsored by the Caribou Chamber and Farmers Club. The program includes a tour, a luncheon, and remarks by Gibbs, with various regional officials listed.
Nellie V. Johnson of Grace will lead the 44th annual American Legion Auxiliary Department of Idaho convention in Lewiston June 26 to 28. National President Mrs. Lucille Johnson of Nebraska will attend and speak Saturday at 10 a.m. The meeting includes joint sessions with the Legion on Child Welfare and Rehabilitation. New officers will be elected for the coming year.
A 800 acre ranch hosting row crops BTASS and beef production invites the public to a first annual Farm-City week tour and luncheon. The event features re seeded pastures with orchard grass and alfalfa and stops to inspect certified seed potatoes Gaines wheat and barley.
Soda Springs golfers traveled to Kemmerer Wyoming for a return match. Rainy weather limited play to nine holes with Kemmerer winning 10 to 3. Medalists were Stan Matthews of Soda Springs with 38 and Bill Little of Kemmerer with 36. Soda women’s medalist was Helen Tigert.
Dr. Allen Tigert and his wife and children are spending ten days in California to attend the American Medical Assn Convention in San Francisco. They are visiting nearby sights with Mrs Tigert's niece Miss Brenda Middlecamp of Bath Illinois accompanying them on the trip.
Jim Benson of Grace Equipment Co. and his wife Venice depart Salt Lake City for a week in New York as guests of International Harvester Company. Benson won the trip for selling the highest percentage of his tractor quota in a district including Idaho Utah Nevada and Wyoming. They fly to New York and stay at the Statler Hilton with World’s Fair and IH events.
Mayor Reed C. Stoddard proclaims June 21 to 27 as Farm and City Week in Soda Springs Idaho to honor farmers and retailers for cooperation and discussing shared business and social issues during the week. The proclamation is dated June 22 1964 and bears the city seal.
This week the metal pot on a Linotype exploded spraying molten lead over a 20 foot area after a mercury bulb cracked in the lead melting pot. The editor notes the mess, the immobilized press, and a postponed paper with items held for next week.
Mayor Reed C. Stoddard proclaims the week of June 22 Vehicle Safety Check Week in Soda Shrines Idaho. He urges citizens and organizations to join the Circle of Safety by checking their cars and driving, promoting safety in the sixties.
Erwin Peck sustained serious burns to his right hand arm and the side of his face in a Tuesday afternoon fire at Ace Chevrolet Co in Soda Springs. Four cans of heated car paint exploded while transferring to a paint gun igniting the blaze that damaged the body shop and paint area, with losses estimated at five to seven thousand dollars. Firefighters and staff moved all but two cars from the showroom area, which only suffered smoke damage.
Northwestern University awarded 2518 degrees at its 108th commencement in McGaw Memorial Hall. President J Roscoe Miller conferred 1618 bachelor degrees and 900 master and doctorate degrees to graduates from Evanston and Chicago campuses. Martin J Wistisen of Bancroft earned an MBA.

Bannock County Commissioner candidate Henry O Leary says a movement to reassign the Grace Bancroft area from Caribou to Bannock is under way. He notes 1948 secession vote and says consolidation of Idaho counties may follow. residents felt discriminated against and the issue became a clash of personalities. The Grace Bancroft split followed plans for Bannock Memorial Hospital completed in 1950.
The Sun surveyed O'Leary's Caribou County claim that Bancroft and Grace area residents want to return to Bannock. Mayors and officials from Grace and Bancroft refute the idea, saying they feel aligned with Caribou and Soda Springs and see no desire to switch counties.
Mrs. Lyda Tharp and her Spokane grandson David Musulin spent the summer in Twin Falls. They attended the wedding of Tharp’s granddaughter Marsha Kay Link during their Friday and Saturday visit.
