Montpelier Holds Four Day Pari-Mutuel Race Meet
Montpelier hosts a four day pari mutuel race meet starting June 24 at Bear Lake County Fairgrounds. The Third Annual Bonneville Quarter Horse Futurity and the Bonneville Derby top a card of eight to ten races daily with post time at 1 00 p m. Purses reach 6000 for the futurity and 2000 for the derby, open to three year olds. About 60 two year olds nominated for the futurity and 28 for the derby, with 200 horses booked for the meet. A new track places starting gates in full spectator view under new pari mutuel rules from the 1963 session. The Cham ber of Commerce sponsors the futurity under Nord Jacobson with James Olsen directing Bear Lake Racing Association.

Local Girl Scout to Attend Camp in Tennessee
Sue Stoker of Soda Springs is one of three Senior Girl Scouts from District 2 to join All-States Encampments this summer. A total of 612 Senior Scouts nationwide will visit five locations California Maryland Michigan Tennessee and Washington. Stoker will join Mary Jo Perkins of Pocatello and Linda Lloyd of Pocatello on summer camps including Camp Sky Wa Mp in Elizabeth ton Tenn Camp River Ranch in Carnation Wash and Camp Woodhaven in Redwood City Calif. The encampment aims to develop camping ideas and skills with 18 project assignments such as operating day camps for younger children.

Miss Idaho Pageant Sets Musical Theme and New Look
The 1964 Miss Idaho Pageant in Boise June 26 and 27 will have a new musical theme We Are Tomorrow. Composer Bernie Wayne wrote most of the score and will premiere a Miss Idaho song with selections like That Extra Special Something Called Talent. Twenty four reigning queens from Idaho will compete in one of the largest pageants in 15 years of Boise Lions Club Benevolent Fund sponsorship. Miss Kathleen Hunter of Grace Miss Caribou 1964 will represent Caribou County. Scholarships will be awarded to about one third of contestants.
