Montpelier Hosts 1963 Bonneville Futurity Race Meet

The Bear Lake County Racing Association and Montpelier Chamber of Commerce sponsor the 1963 Bonneville Futurity Quarterhorse and ES race meet at Montpelier Fair Grounds June 27 to 29. Horses from Idaho to Nevada compete. 92 two year olds nominated. Bear Lake Derby features 26 top three year olds. purses total 5 000 and 1 600 respectively. Also a Bear Lake Thoroughbred Handicap open to the Rocky Mountain region. Trials set for June 27 with James Olsen, 1962 Futurity winner, to present a blue wool blanket to this year’s Futurity winner. Track renovations and new stables and a starting gate added to accommodate entrants.

Graduation rites set for Stevens Henager College student

June Ann Finlayson of Soda Springs Idaho to receive a Stevens Henager College graduation diploma at the annual commencement in Kingsbury Hall Salt Lake City Speaker will be Utah Governor George D Clyde LW Stevens presides. The college founded 1907 operates Ogden and Salt Lake City campuses with L R Stevens directing the Ogden school and Jack M Stevens directing the Salt Lake City school Julie Ann to receive a diploma in a Secretarial Finishing course.

Local Resident's Son Arrives From France

John Woode wife Eileen Jill and Elizabeth D Hartoy from Diepte France visit Soda Springs with Mrs Esie Woodall and the Whiteheads. Mr Woodall served in Paris six years and will be stationed at Widbey Island Naval Base near Seattle. They sailed Le Havre May 28 aboard SS America and reached New York June 4, arriving Soda Springs June 14. Elizabeth will enroll as a part time student later. Francis reports a son asked for garage keys and retrieved the lawn mower.
