Ralph Else, project manager for Seismography Service Corporation, says a major oil company has contracted them to perform oil and gas seismology work through the winter in Bear Lake County. The firm, with 27 employees, operates from 4th and Clark streets in Montpelier and is one of three seismic companies moving into the town within the week.
The Utah office of Ford, Bacon and Davis opened a field office in Soda Springs Idaho to serve phosphorus related industries. The 80 year old firm began operations in the western United States in 1972 with the Salt Lake City office and currently employs about 100 engineers designers and draftsmen.
Runners from the Bicentennial Independence Relay, a 13-member team in two groups, pass Soda Springs on Saturday en route from Olympia to Washington DC. The 3,300-mile trek began June 4 and aims to finish July 3 in two-person driver crews, with daily runs around 12 miles per runner and occasional roadside assistance from locals.
