St Charles to Receive 336000 Federal Water Grant

Idaho towns St Charles and Bloomington will obtain a 336000 dollar grant from the Economic Development Administration, announced by Senator James McClure. The funds will support water system improvements in Bear Lake County to spur long term growth and job creation, with a 244000 dollar local match for a 610000 dollar project total.

Governor Cancels Phosphate Hearing Scheduled for Today

Grace Committee Finalizes Plans for Grace Bicentennial

The Grace Bicentennial Committee led by Mrs Dallag Murdoch, Frank Taylor, and Nellie Johnson met at the City offices to seal plans for Grace Day on July 17. Details include a 45 minute program by the Los Pearce Fiddling Gang from Aberdeen at Grace High School, a supper for thirteen by Ward Relief Society, and races for all ages with several events. Volunteers are urged to contact Mrs Murdoch for space at the midway arcade and concessions, and residents may still vote for the Grace Queen at Sam’s and Love Drug.

Old West Days Bicentennial Planned With July Festivities

Final plans outline a July Old West Days celebration including LDS Heritage festival July 2 to 3 at the high school. Events feature a musical program, a Merchants Sidewalk sale, a Flag and Bell Ringing ceremony, Lions Breakfast, parade with a children’s pageant, beard and mustache contest, Greased Pole Climb, and Lions Amateur Rodeo Bailey Creek starting at 2 p.m.

DUP Plans Bicentennial Quilt Sale and Exhibition

Daughters of Utah Pioneers display a white nylon tricot Bicentennial quilt painted in natural colors by Molly Anne Hopkins. Wanda Reed and Marintha Hopkins lead the campaign with public viewings in Grace Bancroft and Soda Springs from June 14 through July. County Convention on August 13 in Bancroft caps the effort. A bell ringing ceremony on July 5 at 7 am on the courthouse steps invites public participation.
