Old West Days Celebrate July 2 3 4 5 in Soda Springs
Soda Springs will host Old West Days on July 2 3 4 and 5. The schedule features a Merchants Sidewalk Sale on July 2 3, Lions Club breakfast and a parade July 4 at 10 a.m. followed by park games, a carp catch, variety show, Hawaiian Luau and dance. Bailey Creek Roundup also July 4 and Polynesian Revue on July 5.

Whooping Crane Eggs Placed With Sandhill Nests
The Fish and Wildlife Service placed 14 wild whooping crane eggs in greater sandhill crane nests at Gray's Lake National Wildlife Refuge Idaho to start a second wild flock. The eggs hatch in June and young cranes may winter in New Mexico before migrating back to Idaho.

Dairy Miss Contest Set for June 13 at Williams Ward Church
The Caribou County Dairy Miss pageant, sponsored by Caribou County Farm Bureau, will be held June 13 at 8:00 p.m. at Williams Ward Church. Juniors and seniors from the fall will compete for the Dairy Miss title. The district contest follows on June 20 at the same church, with both events open to the public.

J R Simplot Co plans a 3 million air pollution control project at its Pocatello fertilizer plant. The Ammsox Scrubber will reduce sulfur dioxide from plants No 1 and No 2 and reactivates idle plant No 1. Monsanto Enviro-Chem will design and install the system with completion aimed in early 1976.

U P L Denied Large Rate Hike for Irrigation Pumps
Idaho Public Utilities Commission rejected an 18.5 percent general rate increase proposed by Utah Power and Light for irrigation pumping customers. The order preserves a 10 percent across the board rise with a temporary 3 percent surcharge. The surcharge funds Idaho’s share of damages to Naughton No. 3 and costs from negotiated wage increases and other expenses.

Farm Census Forms Needed in Idaho 1974
Idaho farmers rece ive census forms for the 1974 Census of Agriculture with 39 thousand mailed in January and 67 percent returned. Local Man Killed At Soda Springs Railroad Crossing
Kent Smith 22 of Soda Springs died after his International Truck Tractor 720 ft east of the Union Pacific crossing was struck by a freight train. He died in a Pocatello hospital. A Soda Springs girl and a Montpelier man also died at this crossing in past years.
