Frank Taylor Retires From Principal Post
Frank Taylor longtime Grace Junior High School principal retires after 36 years in education. A graduate of Idaho State Normal School in 1933 and Utah State University in 1959, he taught in multiple communities including Turner and Grace, served as Scout Master and District Camping Chairman, and helped establish free polo vaccinations and immunization clinics in Caribou County. He and his wife Opal have two children, Sandra Biggs and Gary, with a celebration held at Turner's Cafe on May 29.

Custodians of Thatcher School Retire July 1
Mr. and Mrs. Harris Stephen son retire as custodians of Thatcher Elementary School on July 1 after 20 years of service. They have served through mud seasons and received compliments from inspectors salesmen and visitors for a clean building. They worked with principals Millen Mendenhall Vera Young Gene Millward LeRoy Krogh and Edrington. A May 27 farewell party featured a taffeta gown and melmac dish set as a gift.

Grace High School reunion recalls 1915 to 1932 era
Grace High School alumni gathered May 31 at Grace Elementary Gym with nearly 200 attendees to celebrate, hear speeches, and renew ties. The event featured an 8 pm banquet, a program, poetry readings, and singing led by Harold Lowe and Jane Benfer. Members of classes 1915 through 1932 introduced, faculty honored, and a 58 member list remembered. Dancing closed the evening as plans for a 1980 reunion were announced.

Sheriff Department Recovers Wide Range Of Stolen Goods
Caribou County Sheriff’s Office recovered about $1,300 in company gear from a former Beker Industries employee. Deputy Claude Snooks and the team led the effort, with a pre sentence investigation pending in District Court for the arrestee. Additional burglaries included Sanders Furniture Store in Bancroft, with $1,400 in TVs and electronics recovered. two suspects from Clearfield, Utah, await Utah trial and probable extradition. Items from U K Tire Store in Soda Springs and O K Thre Store were recovered totaling roughly $2,200, and a 4 inch drill stolen from Anderson Lumber in Grace was found. An extended probation was imposed for a 19 year old related to these cases. several suspects remain at large or awaiting further action.

Monsanto names Russell H Crouse 49 plant manager of Soda Springs to new Phosphorus Projects post in St Louis. D W Haines transfers from Columbia Tenn to lead Soda Springs plant. Crouse Utah graduate 1951 joined Monsanto that year as mining engineer and will relocate with family to St Louis. Haines a 1956 Colorado graduate becomes plant manager after 19 years with the company. They will be moving this summer.

Monsanto test kitchens in St Louis hosted a three day training seminar on food phosphates featuring thirteen Monsanto employees from global locations. The biscuit bake-off let participants test phosphates as leaveners in biscuits while observing effects on color taste moisture acidity and texture. Monsanto is a major supplier of phosphates to the food industry worldwide.

Robbery At Grace Sport Shop Strikes Again
Robbers broke into the aquarium pet and hobby shop at Grace on Thursday night May 29. Entry appears to have been gained through a back door. Eleven guns and sporting goods totaling more than 3000 dollars were stolen from the sporting goods department. This is the second Grace robbery in three weeks and the third in the county. Investigation continues.

Grace Girl Joins Holstein Association
LaRae Mickelson Grace joins the Holstein-Friesian Association of America as a junior member. The program serves ages 9 to 21 with ownership of at least one registered Holstein and grants most adult privileges except voting. Over 12,800 youths are active in the junior program, with 57,800 participants since 1923.
