The National Safety Board named Monsanto a recipient of the Order of Honor for outstanding safety performance. J. Bock of the No Council praised the award as a high achievement in safeguarding workers at Monsanto facilities including laboratories and reactors.

Social Security payments in Caribou County totaled 47000 dollars monthly as 1969 ended. Nixon signed a 15 percent raise for 537 beneficiaries, with 352 retired workers and dependents, 146 survivors, and 39 disabled or dependents. Most beneficiaries are older, but about a quarter are under 60 in Idaho’s total of 19902 under 60 paid monthly.

Peggy Lloyd daughter of Mr and Mrs Dean M Lloyd Soda Springs earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration as an Executive Secretary from LDS Business College Salt Lake City with Dr William E Berrett as guest speaker at the Temple Square Assembly Hall graduation ceremony. Family attended and Peggy works for a Salt Lake City insurance agency.
Almost 2,100 candidates for degrees were honored at Utah State University’s 77th annual commencement on June 6 in Logan. Names include Grace Bennett, Diane Elsmore, Mark Gibbs, Norma Ray, Lagrande Smith, Gary Taylor from Grace. Reed Budge of Soda Springs and Mary Helen Sibbett of Wayan are also listed.
Kevan F. Smith of Soda Springs and Farmington New Mexico was among 600 plus students receiving advanced degrees at the University of Utah commencement on June 65. Smith earned a Juris Doctor in Law after a Cum Laude BA at BYU in 19686. A humorous exchange about saddles and directions closes the excerpt.
The Agriculture Department designated nineteen wheat varieties as undesirable for 1971 price support. Varieties face 20 cent per bushel discount and are in Hard Red Winter Hard Red Spring White and Soft Red Winter categories with specific regional exceptions. Crop Improvement Association support accompanies the action and growers are urged to plant only varieties recommended by state extensions.
Sue Ann Stoker of Soda Springs will join 103 candidates to receive bachelor of science in nursing degrees at the University of Oregon School of Nursing commencement. The ceremony, Friday June 12 at 8 00 p m, occurs at the Portland Civic Auditorium. Dr Robert D Clark president will confer degrees and give the principal address. Miss Jean Boyle will present the candidates.
