A 12 year old girl from Conda and daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Finlayson returns to Salt Lake City for further treatment at Children's Hospital. She has been under care for several years and now wears a cast. She attends Mrs Schrenk's sixth grade.

Caribou County commissioners finalized the 1955 jury list at January meetings. The roster includes Herman Yost Halden Gunnell Mike Shipley Kenneth Taylor Marjorie Christe Horace Jenkins Erlene Higgins Darhl Cheirett Amos Rigby Loyal Hopkins and many others who will serve in district probate justice and coroner cases throughout the year. The Observer post in Soda Springs plans a meeting next Thursday to explain organization details and recruit volunteers for a 24 hour air defense alert. Sgt. Stevens described ground observers aiding early warning, reporting to Boise and military authorities within minutes.
Sheriff Ralph Marriott captured three teenage escapees from the Utah State Industrial School at Ogden on Tuesday after they stole a car at Thatcher. The youths aged 15 16 and 17 stole multiple cars during their short period of freedom. The Thatcher owner Claude Mendenhall reported the car they stole did not run well and Thatcher residents tracked them until the sheriff arrived. They offered no resistance and were returned to Ogden.
Louis B. Bitton, Caribou County third district, was chosen chairman at the January organizational meeting. Other commissioners are Harry Sorenson and Walter Stiles, with Chester as district court clerk noting the year’s first business. The board approved bonds and reappointed appointive officers. Bud Woodall Caribou county assessor was elected treasurer of the Idaho assessors at their regular meeting in Boise last week. Woodall traveled to Boise Tuesday and returned Sunday. Robert A. McCracken of Soda Springs is in basic training at Parks Air Force Base California for 54 days.
Last Friday saw a high of 33 degrees as the week ended. Tuesday registered a low of minus 19 degrees at the 0. Bybee weather station, with four days dipping below zero during the period.
The Cardinals beat Inkom and Paris and lost to Grace as Soda 5 held 50 to 40 in one game. Hemmert nailed the buzzer beater to win a separate close game, while Grace dominated a later match as Smart led the losers with 14 points. Next action tips toward American Falls with league leaders remaining unsettled.
Prof Pierre Pulling author of two canoeing books will speak at the January meeting of the Caribou Wildlife Protective Association. The event next Thursday evening in the Geyser Club downstairs room includes a canoe demonstration and officer elections for the coming year. A Dutch lunch will follow.

Earl L. Dalley of Logan pleaded guilty before Probate Judge Frank Harris to passing a hot hepatitis check at the Santo club. He was fined $50 and received a 60 day suspended jail sentence.

Multiple patients, including Grace Eliza Allsop, Grace Calvert Preece, and others, are listed as discharged or still confined. Discharge and admission entries mix names and towns such as Cokeville Kemmerer Bancroft and Lode Springs with partial details.
Polio drive kickoffs with no house to house canvass as committees led by Francis Peterson plan three benefit events. A Grace Soda Springs double header basketball pits Grace M Men against Monsanto and Bancroft Lions against Soda Springs Lions. Josh Mitchell is brought before District Judge John Carver in Pocatello on a charge of passing a check without funds at Stockman’s supply in April 1953. The sentence was delayed until July and he was placed in the custody of State Parole officer Vern Wardle. Mitchell was captured in Salmon this week after a two year search by Sheriff Ralph Marriott across four western states. District Attorney Francis Rasmussen appeared for the state.
Mr and Mrs Kenneth Shuteldt and Mr and Mrs Ted Bells spent Saturday in Ogden attending cutter races. Mr and Mrs Don Bates of Burley were Sunday guests in the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Earl Sibbett.
Myrtle Rasmussen, 56, of Grace died Friday morning at home from a heart attack. Born September 16, 1898 in Moreland, she was married to John Rasmussen September 17, 1914 in Pocatello. Survived by husband, three daughters Irene Gillette Lucille Scott Verda Kunz, three sons Fred Leonard Dewey, eight grandchildren, and siblings. Funeral Monday 1:00 p.m. at Grace Second Ward LDS church. Interment Turner cemetery. Allen Hall mortuary directed.
Nelson Hanson former Central resident and store operator died of a stroke last Wednesday in Salt Lake City. He was buried in Provo. Hanson and his wife ran the Central store and post office for years before moving to Ogden and Provo where he ran a barber shop. Survivors include wife Grace W Hanson and son Orion, with two daughters Wanda Clark of Anaheim and Nedra Redding of South Gate.
Senator Fred Cooper arranged for copies of bills to be sent to Soda Springs High School. Superintendent Ezra Moore announced availability to the public. Readers may check out the journals by asking Mrs. Mary Nielsen, the school librarian, for aid in locating the material.
Mr and Mrs J L Christopherson Leo Mecham and Erma Humphreys spent Monday in Logan to attend Idaho stake temple day at the LDS temple.
Slippery surfaces caused three crashes in Caribou County over the past week. In Soda Springs at Hooper and Third East a pair of vehicles collided on Friday. On Main Street Saturday two Soda Springs residents collided. Sunday a car from Denver skidded into an embankment six miles west of Soda Springs. Mrs Matthews and her husband were treated for minor injuries.
Skiing is in full swing at Trail Canyon with two runs planned for Saturdays and Sundays. Ratnie Nichols, Soda Springs ski club president, announced the season as crowds gathered. Conditions are good with a warming hut in use and a safety tow being installed. Tickets cost 25 cents to $1.00 by age. Lessons for beginners are scheduled 2 to 3 pm with advanced sessions throughout the day.
