Supreme Court Ruling Threatens Caribou County School Funding

Idaho Supreme Court ordered utility property assessed at the same rate as other real property, shrinking utility valuations from about 31 percent to 13.5 percent in Caribou County. The ruling threatens roughly $110,000 in annual 1966 revenue and could trigger severe cuts for School Districts No. 150 Soda Springs, No. 149 Grace, and No. 148. Utilities argue they pay taxes first half under protest.
