Two Suspects Held After Block's Store Burglary

Two suspects are in jail after a burglary at Block's Store in Soda 73. Daggett California resident Dale I Burge and McCurry of Pocatello both 35 were charged in Justice Court Judge Gena Young with bond set at 5000 each. Officer Wilcox spotted a suspicious car at 3 50 am and found a broken lock before detaining them. Officer Gary Smith assisted. Preliminary hearing date pending.

March of Dimes drive in Caribou County raises funds

Local residents and businesses pledged about 430 dollars during a KSL TV telethon with 18 hours of volunteers manning the Salt Lake City facility to accept donations. A youth March at Presbyterian Church collected over 300 dollars, while a coin drive and classroom efforts added to the total. County officials thank volunteers and media for publicizing the 1967 March of Dimes drive in Caribou County.

Kal School appoints Safety Patrol at Soda Springs Elementary

Kal School announces safety patrol for Soda Springs Elementary with a few boys from upper grades trained by the May Springs Police Department. Patrol serves half the school year, chosen for scholastic achievement and behavior, on duty 8 25 morning and before school. Selected members include Mayne Hamblin, Roly Soren, Wade Iris, Ricky Hale, and others.

Auto Dama Fire Friday Damages Car in Parking Lot

A car owned by Wayne Hoskins and Grace was damaged by smoke and an electrical fire in the Eastside Grocery parking lot Friday afternoon. Harley Walters, store proprietor, reported the fire. firefighters quickly extinguished it. Faulty wiring caused the blaze.

Art Exhibit Slated in Soda Springs February 18

A public art exhibit will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Soda Springs on Saturday February 18. Local adult art class students display paintings. Principal Marlin Bingham of Blackfoot Elementary will be present to answer questions about painting and related topics. North Gem Hosts Fifth District Class B Wrestling Tourney

The Fifth District Class B wrestling tournament will be held Friday and Saturday Feb. 10 and 11 at North Gem High School in Bancroft with Grace West Side and North Gem in action. Starting time for matches is 7 30 p m on both nights. Soda Springs wrestlers will compete in the Fifth District Class A tourney at Marsh Valley on Feb. 10 and 11.

Help for income tax clinics February six and seven

Internal Revenue Agent R Walter Manning and State Income Tax Auditor Gary L Long will be at Soda Springs Court House February 6 and 7 from 8 am to 5 pm to answer local taxpayers questions about filing income tax returns. Monsanto earnings eyed after 1966 tax credit shift

O Neal said Monsanto will see a 1967 earnings impact from a reduced investment tax credit and a suspended credit in October. He cited 1966 capital expenditures around 208 million, down from 295 million in 1965, and noted a favorable overall interest site due to prior financing arrangements.

One hundred ninety six pints were donated at the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Soda Springs on January 25. Of these, 179 pints were replacements and 27 funded whole blood use. El Paso Co to cut wholesale gas rates in Northwest

El Paso Natural Gas Co filed with the Federal Power Commission to lower Northwest prices by about 2.5 million dollars annually, retroactive to January 1. The cuts will affect Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and northern Nevada as taxes are passed through to customers. Howard Boyd, the chairman, said tax reductions enable the price relief.

Grace Man Gains Doctorate Degree At Wisconsin Commencement

Russell T Pack of Grace received a PhD in Physical Chemistry at University of Wisconsin commencement on January 21. He worked with J O Hirschfelder in the Theoretical Chemistry Institute and wrote a thesis on Corrections to the Born Oppenheimer Approximation.

WHY A School Plant Facilities Fund?

The Soda Springs Idaho district asks voters to approve a 10 mill five year levy for a school plant facility fund. Proceeds must be used only for capital outlay to add classrooms and expand facilities, not maintenance or teacher salaries. Guidance Clinic Held for North Gem High Seniors

A county-wide guidance and counseling clinic ran 9 00 a m to 12 30 p m at North Gem High School on Monday with about 140 seniors from Bancroft Soda Springs and Grace in attendance. Speakers from medicine nursing law dentistry and more addressed students with university and armed services representatives also present.
